Change of Camo

I am a Mom that also taught years ago. I would not accept Wikipedia as a resource. If a teacher will not accept it as a resource, than IMPO don't use it a defense argument position.

As far as the future, a lesson I and probably every parent here will give....Don't wish your life away! The future is just that! Take control of today. Uniforms or other crap matters naught come August/September. The cadre does not and will not care if you know the inside loop regarding the uniform changes. NOW, maxxing the PFT that will mean something!

JMPO, walk away and go for a run! Work on your form for sit ups and push ups. You want to be a success and shine? Then accept the idea that they will teach you (instead of Wikipedia or social media) and the way to show how much you are in the game as a freshmen first week is being able to blow everyone else in the dust physically. Backpacks won't do it.
I definitely get your point about fitness. It's 2200 here, I only come online after I finish work and sports. This is just kept open alongside homework and personal projects.

I'm working my way up to getting a nice 2 mile run down. 72 pushups (by my count) and 80 situps (by my count,) I haven't timed my 2 mile yet, but I hope to before the end of the month. I want to be able to do a 300 point APFT from day 1.

Thanks again for the advice and thoughts.

Form matters.

My DS was the PT cadet instructor for AFROTC. FORM matters! Otherwise you are wasting time and energy. Again, look through the bowels of this site.
~ Cadets learned quickly what counted and what didn't. Your administer of the PFA may not hold you to the same standards.

It is 10 pm your time...now my question is you live overseas...yes?

The cliche 1st impressions matter exists because it is true. Our DS was a PT pacer for the run. He would scream cadets last names if they were falling out of the run.

He and other cadets in leadership positions did not give a care about uniforms...new changes, not saying or implyig that uniforms don't matter They accepted that this was the way of life, and saluted sharply.

StowieJ, the sooner you realize that, the better off you will be as a cadet. I don't think my DS ever cared about a uniform. He did stress that his GPA was competitive for career selection.

Sorry, but you need to find the line between being THAT guy or not

I'm just trying to figure out where he's located and how he got 38 likes since Jan. 10th.

He lives in South Africa that's what he told me.

Well, they didn't start this silly "Like" thing until they switched to the new format, so I guess everyone just started with a clean slate. It is fun to push the button though.

I'm still trying to figure out why I have any "Likes" at all.

I'm also trying to figure out why the time listed as to when something was posted is so far off. Does it have to do with where this site originates from.

Well. I can only speak from my experience at my school.... but:

1) regarding dress uniforms: we didn't receive our blue ASUs until about a year ago. We wore the greens well past the "phase in date" because ROTC is the Army's last priority in terms of uniforms really. Even though we've been wearing the ACU pattern for years, most of us still have BDU pattern sleeping bag bivy covers, wet weather gear, ponchos, etc. It's just whatever your battalion has allocated funds for.

2) regarding backpacks: our battalion enforces army regulations regarding backpacks, as in they must be black, ACU, or carried by hand. Black is always a safe bet, but if you want an ACU bag, go for it. I don't see ROTC changing patterns for a long while.

3) regarding boots, tattoos, hair, etc: just do yourself a favor and don't buy out of regs boots. Aside from maybe $20 more expensive per pair, there's not much difference in comfort. Don't get an out of regs tattoo, it will jeopardize your enrollment. Just follow the regs to the best of your ability regarding all else.

Also: don't be discouraged by people telling you not to worry about it. Some of the stuff isn't really worth worrying about, BUT you're being proactive, curious, and asking questions. There's nothing wrong with trying to learn.

Thanks. You get me ;)
