Changing Army Uniforms

I betcha that if anyone on this forum posted that the Navy white bell bottoms with the bib fronts and the white blouse and neckerchief make sailors look like a bunch of homos they would be banned.

Nah. Mostly because they'd be mostly right. I never liked the white Cracker Jack uniform. The version of it at USNA (White Works Delta, IIRC, back in my day, and assuming it's still in use) was just as bad.

The enlisted dress blue Cracker Jack, however, can be VERY sharp when properly worn, and it at least it has some long and honorable tradition behind it, unlike most of the crap being foisted on the troops by the Pentagon these days.

It is tradtion, PARATROOPERS are authorized to wear the black combat boots with their ASU's.

Still looks like garbage, IMO.

Bloused boots may work on the old Class A's, but it doesn't fly in a DRESS uniform any more than sneakers go with a tuxedo when the wearer has won the Gold Medal for the marathon at the Olympics.

The above are traditional unforms and don't make them look like HOMOs
a matter of fact they look very flatterying on the guys... better then flight suits.....

And I have to agree the boots with the dress trousers look silly.. and yea I know that paratroopers have always worn them that way.. still looks dumb..
but the crackerjacks (above) are an awesome tradition...:thumb:

I love these new service uniform for the navy pictured here.. it looks like the old WWII uniforms.. (but the crackerjacks looks like it has a zipper instead of the 13 buttons.

Not a fan of either. Those whites WERE Navy though, I can't get used to these new Panamanian looking things. Berets should be reserved for a select group. I remember more than one Ranger voicing their anger with the change. That's the kinder, gentler Army for you. If you EARN a beret then you wear the beret.

Not my issue, I have a Krispy Kreme looking hat (cover) to wear, which serves little purpose but fits nicely in the belt.

I'd forgotten the Summer Dress White for enlisted had the blue accents on the sleeve and collar. I still prefer the Blue, though.

I absolutely love that khaki uniform. MAN I wish they'd have had those in my day. Sharp and simple. Perfection.

Oh, well. Maybe in another life. :frown:

I (and everyone I served with except for one XO) loved our pisscutter covers. Light, easy to tuck under a belt when removed, and sharp. Far better than the dressier full cover that was sharp but a PITA to handle when doffed.

Does the Navy still use an enlisted work uniform that is white and, no joke, looks EXACTLY like a Good Humor Man uniform? Sure, Summer Whites for officers catches some flak for being similar to an ice cream vendor, but it's still sharp. The enlisted version just never worked. My guys hated it because it was impossible to keep clean.

I love the little sailor suit...it's so darn cute! My favorite picture of my oldest son was taken at 18 months wearing something very similar! Boys are just darling in that outfit! :shake:  :shake:

Oh, and for those who may not have seen it, this is the Navy BDU I was talking about. I'm not sure if this was finally deployed or not, but I can only think of how much money went into this.......... thing.

Generally, that's not the reaction a guy in the military would want, haha. :yllol:

Berets used to be an honorable distinction of an elite force. Green Berets in the Army, Red Berets in the AF, don't know what SEALS had other than the Trident and blue for British SAS??. When they gave it ot everyone in the US army it became a joke and still is.

I remember when bloused "Para Qualified" went with utilities not Dress or Cass-A that just looks stupid.

Oh man, I hope that fix these up pretty soon, because I don't want my family, or anyone else for that matter, to see me in this stuff.

Don't worry, you'll get a new chief of XXX (military branch) and he/she will change it. That's what happen with McPeak, Fogelman undid almost everything McPeak did regarding uniforms. The AF went through several changes over a 5 yr period. In 92/93 the McPeak flight suit came out, by 96 it was back to the old. The blues were changed around the same time and by 98 they were the uniforms that are now current.

Don't buy them until you need them, b/c you might never be forced to wear that design. That is what happened in the AF for the blues, they allowed people to wear the old ones to a certain date, meanwhile they were on their 2nd design by the expiration date!

It looks like the bad guys that are easy to kill in "Goldeneye 007" for Nintendo64.
