Check your portal! Now!!

My son received that appointee visit email but nothing on his portal nor any calls from MOCs. Where on the portal would it say his status?

I'm pretty psyched for you guys. Can't wait to hear what basic squads you all get.

Appointment

My son got his email at 4:51 am the 20th. Congratulations if you also got the news yesterday!:thumb: My son was also EA deferred and we live in Florida. We gave up trying to figure out the "how" of it and just kept the faith! My notification came by bounding footsteps simultaneous with a very loud I GOT IT! from the second floor! Big day!

Are portal updates only possible for USAFA? Does USNA have anything like that?

hopefull for all

(First Post) My daughter received her appointment notification yesterday. She came running down the stairs carrying her laptop making some kind of sound. I thought someone died at first. She told me that she had an appointment to the Air Force. Woo! Of course, since I'm a IT guy that's always looking for problems and a constant skeptic, I had to see the email and make sure it didn't say "not", "no", "wait list", etc. Nope. She's in. Very proud of her and can't believe how fast they grow up.

Congrats to everyone who has received appointments! Still waiting here in OH-8. My portal says refreshed on 19 March, does anyone know how often they refresh the portal? Is it usually a daily thing or does it only happen when they have info to update?

CONGRATULATIONS to the new appointees!

It seems like (almost) yesterday that my C3C received his BFE announcing his acceptance to USAFA. They used the mail and a big packet rather than your portal...However, the thrill and the emotions, and the cries and the hugs of pure joy are still the same. It is such a big deal to receive an acceptance to USAFA and I want to send a big shout-out of CONGRATULATIONS to all of the new appointees, and those who will hear the good news soon (I HOPE). The waiting is unbearable...but the thrill of being accepted is indescribable. You will all have such an exciting and challenging and gratifying ride ahead. May you all be blessed and encouraged by this remarkable achievement.

Congratulations everybody! I can't wait to see everyone on I-day. I will keep those still waiting in my prayers. Stay positive!

Appointment received in Colorado Springs Airport

(First Post)...My son received his appointment while waiting in the Colorado Springs Airport on our way back to Texas from a USAFA campus visit! It was surreal to see him answer his phone and hear our Congressman congratulate him for attaining the appointment. What made the situation even more amazing was the fact that a Sponsor family was sitting next to us and offered to sponsor my son during BCT!! Unbelievable!!!

I have been on cloud 9 since Wednesday and my son has already changed!

Truly an amazing feeling!!!

How are candidate parents finding out about appointments before the candidate?

Unless they have access to their kid's portal and see it first, they aren't.

Do you mean because parents are posting their kid's appointments on the appointment thread? If so, it is because the parent is the logged on member, the one that frequents the forum. In my case, my son has only recently joined and now understands my obsession, but for many, it is the parent that is the active member...mostly because we have more time to obsess than the kids!

Not true. My mom found out before me due to the fact the Academy sent both her and myself an e-mail that said "You have a new message from the US Air Force Academy Admissions office. This message contains important information about your offer of appointment." It had a link where it took me to my portal, but my mom doesn't have my log in information.

Parents only receive this email if the candidate provides their email address on the application, otherwise the parents would receive no information from AFA.

The duplicate email that I received, had the same time stamp as my son's. Technically I saw my son's announcement first because I checked emails first that morning. But I would not have received anything had DS not included my email on his application.

Yes, i'm from 7th district.
I earned my nomination from Rep. Marsha Blackburn and earned my appointments early this morning!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner; I was on vacation. Anyways, I also received my nomination from Marsha Blackburn. I was just curious where you live since she has a rather large district. I live in Clarksville. Congratulations on your appointment though! I received mine on the 20th as well.

In our DD's case, I did hear about it before she did. The Congressman's Academy Coordinator called for help to schedule a time for DD (and me and my wife) to be in the Principal's office, so the Congressman could call with the awesome news. We made up a story about having to talk about graduation plans, so her whole class were there in the conference room when he called. My wife found out when our DD did...when the call came in. I had to sit on that info for a day...that was tough! The reactions were priceless!

check your portal now April 3rd

I checked my DD portal a few minutes ago. While she did not receive a direct appointment, her portal says she was offered USAFA Prep School.
