Does it matter what major you choose and list on your application for USNA. Do technical majors like engineering have more weight than say if you apply for major in Political Science? I know for NROTC they would like for you to choose majors in Tier 1 and Tier 2, which are the technical majors. Is it the same for USNA?

    Thanks

I don't believe so but either way you graduate with a Bachelors of Science because of all the math/science courses you are required to take.

The academy does encouage group 1 or 2 majors, and always claims they may force people into them to meet the needs of the navy, but I have never heard of it actually happening. As for addmission I think it would only affect you if you were in a dead heat with someone for one of the last spots and that was the only difference on your application.

Yeah they will encourage you to go for a group 1 or 2 major. When i had my blue and gold interview I wanted to do chem. But now I'm considering a group 3. it's okay if you choose to change your major so just go with what you think you want.
