    Hello:

My DS has applied to the USNA and USAFA and also NROTC and will take NAPS if offered. He went to Summer Seminar and was a drag last Sept at the USNA. His end goal is a military pilot and a life long military career. He is a private pilot currently. He secured admissions into Purdue's Aero/Astro Engineering program but has yet to hear back from NROTC but had a favorable interview. We are in the waiting game for nominations, senators do not interview MCO does. He motioned he wants a watch for Xmas, what kind should I get him that would be used? Any links and or any gifts you think would be appropriately used in either setting for the SA or ROTC?

From large to small ideas are helpful. He is practical guy and I would like to surprise him.

It's a little out of the box question of help but appreciated. Trying to get a jump start on items he will need.

    Thank you

There are watch threads with excellent comments by current and former mids, and other posters - they usually pop up close to HS graduation time. Poke around there while waiting for comments.
    Search on: Watch. Graduation Gift.

Tons of threads on watches. Also a Leatherman multi tool is always good too. Used in the field or on ships a lot. Small mag light with changeable lenses. Used also on ships or in the field. All items get used in rooms at USNA as well.

As good as mini-mags are, Mag Lite has not kept up with the times. I'd go for something like a Fenix (or Surefire, if your wallet feels too heavy).
