I heard that MS1 cadets will have to attend CIET this summer from multiple sources. My question is, does anyone know when this is held, and if it is mandatory? I read somewhere that it only becomes mandatory in 2016 but I'm not entirely sure.

I'm asking because I'm trying to plan out my summer. I have applied to CULP this summer, which may conflict? And if CULP doesn't pan out (as I'm an MS1), then I have a summer abroad program to Russia which I am applying to. But before I commit to anything I need to know about CIET so help please!

You need to be talking to your cadre about this. Nobody here is going to be able to give you any information about when you might be scheduled for CIET. I am confident if you receive a CULP mission they will schedule CIET around those dates, not sure about your other plans. Your cadre will be the best source of information.
 
My cadre did not know. (It seems this is a common trend for them) They say they are waiting for CC to figure things out because of all the changes?

I'm mainly wondering if any other MS1s have been told that they will be going or if anyone has heard specific dates.
 
I was told AD scholarship kids and a few MS1 will go from my school.
 
According to my cadre, to the degree that we can be sure of anything these days, we can be sure that scholarship MS1s will be required to go. You have some say in what 30-day period you go. Keep in mind that anyone could be mistaken or have old info, or CC could change their minds. So I would say apply for other things but don't commit yet.
 
Well my daughter was told yesterday that she had to go to the 28 day camp this summer. She doesn't know when she will go or when she will find out. She only knows she is going. I asked her if all MS1's, rising MSII's were going and she said no. She has a 3 yr scholarship but she was also told yesterday that depending on what her next PT scores are she may get a 3 1/2 year and go ahead to contract.
 
DS was just informed this week that scholarship cadets are definitely going (incl. 3yr-AD). They are supposed to find out more definite dates around January timeframe. There's different date slots, so I'm sure there's some wiggle room if you have other trips planned (i.e. CULP, family vacation, etc.).
