citadel shoes and boots

From out of state and can't get to the cadet store to purchase these items. The cadet store did not provide much help when it came to make and model of required shoes and boots. The best info I received was Bates boots in a sand color with lug soles and Thorogood uniform shoes (not corfam). Both of these manufacturers make several different styles that meet these general guidelines. The different styles seem to come at very different prices. Does anyone know exactly what the Citadel requires? Would like to purchese these items soon so son can start running in them!! Thanks for any help.
 
It is my understanding that they do not require a particular shoe or boot, just certain guidelines. Shoes must be black, plain toe, lace up, polish to nice shine but cannot be patent leather (or anything else naturally shiny). Boots must be sand colored, I think 8-inches high. I ordered my son some boots online and they should be fine. I would recommend getting something light-weight. No need for much or any insulation since it really doesn't get very cold in Charleston. As far as the shoes go, I have heard the Bostonians are great. We have a Bostonian store nearby where we plan to purchase soon. Be sure the shoes have vibram (rubber) sole rather than leather.

I'm a new parent, but have been looking into lots of different things, trying to plan ahead.
