I am attending the Citadel next year and I was wondering if someone could give me a link or an exact pair of shoes to buy, because I am new to this and everything Ive read so far seems vague to me.
Thanks

DS asked this question a year ago. The feedback he received was that several brands were considered acceptable. Black, low quarter, leather, lace up was generally the guidelines he received. Called the Citadel store they were not very helpful with specific brand and model. In a month or so you will receive required inprocessing forms and a list of all the items your need to bring with you. On that list is the specific brand and model number of both the boots and the shoes. I can no longer remember the specifics but I believe it was a Bates uniform shoe in a model that the postal service also uses. I don't know if any one would notice a different manufacturer, since most of these shoes look alike, but since he was a freshman he opted to buy the exact model recommended. He bought them in June and felt he had them broken in when he arrived.

My brother is a knob at The Citadel and he wears Thorogoods. He says they shine the best. There are other brands that are more comfortable but as you'll find out, being shiny is really important to the upperclassmen! I'm heading to The Citadel in August too. Where are you from? Will you be attending CSI this summer? If so, maybe I'll see you there.

Bostonian Denvers. You'll still have to shine but they keep a high gloss well. No matter what you get, break the shoes in before you go. Blisters are a huge problem.

You can call the Bostonian outlet in Charleston at the Tangers Outlet mall and order over the phone the Bostonian Denver shoes and also ask for the Citadel discount. My DS has worn them for two years and likes them
