It is my understanding that it is mandatory to participate in a sport at the service academies. I also know that they all have club boxing teams. As for the Citadel and VMI (which are my backup schools to the academies), neither of them have club boxing, only varsity. I am a big fan of boxing and would love to have the chance to box in college, even if it is only recreational, but aside from viewing professional and college boxing on television and boxing in my basement with friends, I have no real experience with boxing. There are no places that I could have gained any boxing experience around where I live (small southern town problem). So my question is: do all memebers of the Citadel or VMI boxing team have prior experience. Or are you able to join after taking boxing classes during knob/rat years? Also, does anyone know if there are any other ways to box at these schools since i will realistically not be very good with so little experience?

VMI has club boxing. It is on their website under clubs.
