Anyone know how many mids started in the Class of 2013?
The number I heard from several sources on I-Day over on the Yard and published in the local papers was 1230, which would also include foreign midshipmen. That will drop throughout the summer.
Might also check the Naval Academy website in a few days since they have been posting the stats for the latest class on their website (2012 is shown, but assume they will update with 2013 stats in a few days).
Lucky '13 - 1233!
The Superintendent cited the number 1233 in his welcome address to parents on I-Day.
I guess they like the number 13 this year....
'13, i.e. 1+3 = 4 plus 1 plus 2 plus 3 plus 3 = 13
I was on USS Samuel B Roberts FFG58.
The crew often made the same calculations, a 13 in everything
SBR Nr 1 DD 413
SBR Nr 2 DD 823 = 8+2+3 = 13
SBR Nr 4 FFG 58 = 5+8 = 13
Stats are posted on the USNA home page and on the USNA Public Affairs Office page: http://www.usna.edu/PAO/Idayvpk09/
Good stuff, thanks, forgot they usually do a detailed press release.
I must have missed hearing the number in the Sup's address. Too excited I guess. Anyway it was a great day. I did shed a tear when the mids said "I do" in unison and chills when the planes flew overhead. Thanks for the links and info.
About how many are expected to drop out by the end of the summer?
Not sure what the official expected number of quitters is over the PS period. If I remember correctly from my time at the penitentiary, most of the people who went away(voluntarily and by force) did so after Camp Tecumseh was secured.
