Class of 18 Hopefuls!

I'm Josh from Tallahassee, Florida! It's been my dream to go to USAFA since I was around 6, I can't wait to see my dream come true!

What majors and jobs are you all interested in pursuing?
I'm interested in Computer Science with a Cyber Warfare track, and then first choice is pilot with second being a cyber warfare officer! I'm really interested in the Cadet Cyber Warfare club, it sounds really awesome!

3Q is actually not a USAFA term so I don't think that you will find that anyone received a letter stating it.

Yeah, I've only heard 3Q in relation to USNA, I've never heard it in relation to USAFA.

I think I heard that USAFA sends out a postcard when your application is complete.
Ehhh not too sure on this one. I didn't receive any type of notice, I just logged onto my portal and saw that the "Your application is:" had changed to "Complete." I could be wrong though!

You're interested in Computer Science and Cyber Warfare too? Awesome! Maybe we'll both be joining the cyber warfare club next year! :shake:

Not sure about USNA, but 3Q does apply to USMA too! (I got the letter)

And you're right, we don't get a postcard, it just shows up on the portal.
Anyways, welcome!:thumb:

Wow! There are a lot of fellow candidates. I guess I'm the only one from California. What majors and jobs are you all interested in pursuing?

You're not the only one from California. There sure aren't many of us though.

I hope to major in foreign area studies concentrating on East Asia and possibly Political science or international relations :)

I want to major in foreign area studies too. I haven't decided between East Asian and Slavic yet. I'm leaning towards Slavic because I don't think I'd be very good at any East Asian languages. I'll probably also major in political science.

I'm interested in intelligence. What job do you want to get?

Awesome! :) Yeah I'm a native speaker of Korean so that helps. I'd like to study Chinese but I also feel like Arabic would be really helpful. And hopefully branch MI, MP, or medical and then in my 11th year transition as a foreign area officer.

Are there're any other private pilots on here looking to make the flying team out at USAFA? Any re-applicants?!

Greystone re-applicant here! Used to be apart of Civil Air Patrol, Want to major in Astro or Aero engineering!

I have my private pilots license as well. And also am trying to make the flying team if accepted.

Awesome! I had called out and talked to the flying team coach at the academy, and he said it is really competitive! Somewhere around 70+ cadets apply for the team in the fall, and only around 9 are selected from each class! Plus, he said the #1 thing that disqualifies people is their grades at the academy. He said it is quite the workload, but if you make the team, they fly about every other day! I received a "Primary" (think my congressman meant principle) and am just hopefully waiting on a BFE to seal the deal =) any word on how principle noms are rolling with EA applicants?

I'm Alyssa from Alabama.. hoping to get in. I want to major in Aerospace Engineering and become a pilot as well as a lot of you. I already have a Presidential and congressional nomination, but this wait until January 15th is killing me!!

Hellooo from Florida!! I am currently completing my PPL and I hope to make the fly team at USAFA as well!

This Jan 15 date has surprisingly been much harder to count down to than waiting for a letter the first time I had applied! I think having a fixed date makes it that much more nerve-wracking!

As a USAFA cadet, please feel free to PM me if you'd like to talk to me about anything academy-related.

I'm from Florida, and I'm currently training for my CFA. Does anyone who's already taken it have any advice?

When are you taking it?...And are there any specific parts that you're struggling with?

I'm taking it not next week, but the week after, and I'm having trouble with pull-ups and push-ups. I'm a runner, so I've never really trained for upper-body strength, and I've been trying to do a few more pull-ups and push-ups each day, but if there's another better way to train, I'd be happy to try!
