Class of 2015 I-Day Rendezvous

Our family will be in CS the 21st. The 4 of us would love to meet the class of '15 and their families.

At some point some current cadets also get in the loop to meet with appointees and parents at a restaurant in town. I am thinking about the spring orientation, come to think of it, but maybe since they are changing how orientation runs maybe a few upperclassmen can join in. There is a possibility being that close to BCT would be frowned upon, but if not it would be great if you can rally a few posters from the forum to make an appearance. Either way, it is a lot of fun to meet up with other parents and the appointees to know a few other faces, plus perhaps wait in line with on I-day.

Thought it would be a good thread and time to mention this other web site:

Lots of places for open and private discussions for cadets and parents.

Nice idea

My family would certainly enjoy an opportunity to meet some of our fellow USAFA families. Looking forward to connecting with everyone.

Yes, great idea....
We are flying in from south florida and will be there June 21st. Staying at the Hampton Inn. What better time for our son to meet his new family :D

Excellent folks. Try to PM me with your emails and I will setup a email list. Also if you have a facebook and want to share that. Please do so. We are arriving on the 19th and staying at the Cheyanne Resort - they have a special rate for military and it is quite reasonable.

Bump!

Just want to keep this thread active. So far about 8 folks have chimed in. We'll take any and all folks who are traveling unaccompanied. Best!

As a sidenote to the Cheyenne resort last year we explained our son would be in processing and they aloud us the military rate so ask up front and I bet you get it.

Thanks Scraper! It looks like a really nice resort, looking forward to it, been a long year!

Cheyanne Resort

I tried to book this online close to a month ago and they were sold out. Do they have a special block for military? I booked a room at the Academy Best Western, where we stayed at our campus visit, which was okay, but not wonderful.

South FLorida

Hi KGATOR1980!

we are also in South Florida (Ft Lauderdale) with a son in the 2015 USAFA Class!
I sent you a pvt message!

Old Chicago Pizza at the Woodman Rd. exit off Rt. 25 is a good suggestion. You can go upstairs and be a little bit separated from the general public. Might be good to call first. There are several good hotels in the same parking lot, too.

For those staying at the Drury Inn on North Academy Blvd., they have something every night called the 5:30 Kickback. This is free food for guests and every night they have a rotating menu that includes of hot food, including hot dogs, chicken strips, macaroni & cheese, baked potatoesand a nacho bar. Just a thought.

Drury

We are staying at the Drury Inn also the night before I_DAY. we love the litle receptions they have, Hope to meet some of the new cadets that night. Best of luck to everyone and enjoy your remaining time with your DD or DS.

If you guys go out to eat I'd love to join. I'm a current cadet and I remember having some current cadets come to our forum "meet n greet." It was nice for parents to know that their kids are going to be safe ect. Great resource for any questions you may have.

Thanks! I'll add this to the meeting places.

If you'd like a few cadets for some last minute tips, questions, etc, I'd be happy to join Packerfan and come eat with you guys. Cadets did this last year at the dinner before appointee orientation, but unfortunately it was canceled this year.
