Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

When I saw my status change back in December it was on a Saturday at 10 am EST.
 
The California LOAs are starting to roll in. My DS received his in the mail this morning.
 
OK....I must have missed something...where on the site does it say Complete?
 
I used to misinterpret LOA to mean Letter of Appointment. It really means Letter of Assurance for those who don't know. It's sent before nominations are completed to super-qualified candidates and athletes to assure them of an appointment when they get a nomination.
We've all been there before, don't feel bad if you're just learning this. It was worse for those like me who had to learn this in October, I was thinking a bunch of appoinments were already going out!

That should be the second line on the app like this:

Your Status: Candidate
Application Status: Complete

You want to see the second line change to:

Appointment Status: Appointment Offered
 
My goodness....DS has too many applications going at the same time, I was looking on the WEST POINT one and not his AFA one. Still says the same...Complete and Candidate.....Long winter so far....
 
I loved this thread...I'm in the same boat as a parent and trying not to let it show. Snooping the mailbox, waiting to hear from son on the daily online portal status, Chico catalog being mistaken from afar as BFE, kissing my lucky cross, praying every night for no trips, slips or broken bones while son still having fun his senior year or working out. He has one foot in the door with his heart and mind already there, I'm just hoping his dream comes true, and that every parent on this forum hears the same good news.

This thread was meant to be something of a waiting room for those who are still seeking appointments. It is heartening to read from so many good people with great kids looking to take the same path in life.

The sharing of informaiton is also invaluable. It seems that we can narrow our mailbox prowling from Wednesday - Saturdays. That should make like a bit easier. :thumb:

So - as we all fret and stalk and tap our fingers on the keyboard daily :shake: I remind myself that these awesome kids in this final group will be successful in life - no matter what the outcome - because of who they are and who they want to become.

I like this comment. We have threads for nominations and appointments, but we need this "waiting room." There should be no regret in expressing a parent's "angst". The yearning/hoping comes from loving hearts and an expressed emotion becomes less stressful when said out loud. I feel like yelling AGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGH. I feel better now. All the best - ohmigosh, is my neighbor blocking the mailbox with this car??? I need to put a sign up! I find humor helps!

If he gets accepted

My DS said last night that if he gets an appt that after screaming he doesnt want to talk about this for a week. Because its all weve been talking about lately. The what if scenarious are burning a hole in our living room.
