So I know it's a bit early, but since no one has any idea how this new rolling application thing really works, let's post if we got accepted?

Anyone hear back from the Academy or been offered a nomination already? I hear those start November 1st...

Fast, there are indeed people here who understand how this "rolling application thing" works. Patience patience patience... and work on your Plans B and C.

Agree with fencersmother. Focus on your on app & process. Don't worry about someone else's. It will only drive you crazy.

Agreed, feel free to ask questions about the Academy and such, that way you can make an even more informed decision if/when you have to. But even with any sort of "rolling" process the odds of hearing anything before February/March are pretty slim. Impossible...No, but slim nonetheless...

DS had his application complete in late August (including medical, CFA & ALO interview). We are anticipating MOC interviews next month. Have not heard a peep from the Academy since his admissions portal was updated as complete. We don't expect to hear anything before December (wishful thinking) at the earliest, but probably March. The waiting is certainly painstaking. DS is keeping his nose to the grindstone with school, sports and back-up plan applications.

I would like to think he is a strong candidate: class rank 1/300, gpa 4.3, SAT m680 e730 w780, ACT 34, 3 sport varsity athlete (captain of 2), CFA bb73, pu17, sr8.6, su95, pu66, run 5:54, plays piano, lots of clubs & community service, etc. That being said, I have read about plenty of tremendous candidates on this forum.

If/when we do hear anything, I will be sure to post. Best of luck!!

Back in 2011, there was a mailbox stalker club. The appointments (or rejections) were announced via a big fat envelope (or thin white envelope). Portals would update a week after the mailings. It seems like the waiting is still the hardest part. Enjoy the ride...it gets crazier. Best to you all.

Congrats to all of you who have completed your applications and are now part of the waiting game. I would encourage you all to enjoy your senior year (or your DS/DD's senior year). The waiting and the silence seems like such a long time but this year will fly by. Of course you will all continue to work hard, but don't forget to have fun and cherish these next few months!

So I'm understanding we can find out anywhere between November 1st, and the end of March? Patience indeed... So do we know numbers? How many letters of acceptance in November? December? I know for Illinois at least, congressional nomination may not be out until January...

Currently at USAFA for an Influencer Workshop. Had a briefing from the Head of Selections. It is highly unlikely that anyone will hear anything prior to February and most will find out in March. Most nominations aren't reported before November and some finish interviews in December.

IT GETS CRAZIER.

Yeah, you go from a roller coaster to an upside-down, hair-on-fire demon drop!

Don't worry, at the appropriate time, someone will start a thread and all those with noms/appts/3Q who accept will post, and a great list will be created. Note too: no one will care on I-Day if you received an LOA, got the news in January or late March, or even for a few, into May.

Do your application the best you can, but seriously take the time to enjoy senior year. Your life is so much simpler right now, don't needlessly complicate it by stressing too much. -19er

Also if 20s motto isn't "I can see clearly now the rain is gonnnne" from the Claritin commercial I will be incredibly disappointed. Another side note, a girl in my BCT Flight got her acceptance confirmed in June, so you could be waiting a while.

Just for a thought, no one will care if you were accepted 1st or 1200th. I got to the point where I thought for sure I wasn't getting in and then I got a call. Waiting sucks but it's worth it. Enjoy senior year but keep in mind your goals in all your choices.

I am a little hesitant to post this message because I know how many incredible applicants and their parents are waiting on pins and needles. I don't want to add to your anxiety, but I promised I would post if we heard anything from the academy - so here goes...

My DS recieved a "Letter of Assurance" from USAFA this morning!!!

Notification came via e-mail and his application portal was updated. I am still stunned, I think I have read it 100 times already. So very proud of him!!!

We know that this is not an appiontment, as he still needs a nomination (his interviews are next month), but damn this feels good :) and yes fencersmother I know he can't rest on his laurels and still needs to pursue back up plans ;)

For any of you that are curious about his qualifications/achievements there is a brief overview listed on this thread in post #5. I would be glad to answer any other questions anyone may have.

This forum has helped us in so many ways. Thank you!!

Congratulations to your DS. So happy for you both!

Hey guys!
I know waiting sucks, but like many have posted before don't spend your time waiting for it! Enjoy your senior year :)
As a side note, when I was applying this site helped me a lot with all of my questions so please feel free to shoot me a message if you have any!

Been lurking the posts for months now. Happy to report our DS got an LOA Saturday! Very unexpected because his scores were all average--30 ACT, average CFA. We are wondering what they see in him that they gave him an LOA. Seriously, this is shocking. We are so very proud and perplexed at the same time when we see others' credentials in comparison. So everyone--have faith!!

He is now diligently preparing for MOC on Saturday and December 5th. Anyone know if he has a better chance of getting a nomination with LOA? Everything is so intense...
