Class of 2021 Application Questions

I was reading on the USNA website that the preliminary applications are not accepted until July, mine was accepted about 2 weeks ago. Did anyone else's USNA application open?

From that I have a few questions. I was wondering when would my DODMERB be scheduled. I know they will contact me, but do I have to get further in my application for them to schedule me an exam?

Another question is about my personal data record. I have it almost all filled out, but there is a section called "current studies" do I provide them the classes I have taken from 9th grade to the classes I plan to take in 12th grade. Or do I just give them my 11th and 12th grade classes?

My BGO and I have a phone meeting on Tuesday so I plan on asking him then, but if there are any answers that would be great. Thanks!

DoDMERB automatically contacts you one a certain percentage of the USNA application is completed(I think its around 50%). At that point, they will send snail mail with an online login to allow you to schedule the individual exams, physical and optometry.

I'm a reapplicant for 2021 so hopefully I can provide my insight on the application. DoDMERB will contact you when you're 50% done, just like your BGO will contact you for a formal interview at 50% (last year I was interviewed at 11%) . DoDMERB will give you information to log onto their website (I had to use DodMET), from their you will fill out medical history information, and schedule your audiology, optometry and physical examinations. Audiology and Physicial were wrapped together. USAFA piggybacked off of USNA and just requested the information when USNA got it. USMA requires that you finish their whole packet until they request DoDMERB information. On the Personal Data section you need to put the classes you will be taking your 12th grade year. I didn't fill out that part until late July when my schedule was made for my senior year.

Okay on the personal data I just put the 12th grade year, I already have my schedule. But when it asks for semester/term, do I just put all the classes and say 1st semester for all of them then put 2nd semster? If that makes any sense.

When/If they email you that you were now a Prelim Candidate, it will clearly state in that email that "before you open your application, read the attached instructions". They are important info.

And in those instructions it clearly states that after submission of your 5th item, your DODMERB will be put into motion. They give you more information on the process AFTER you are accepted as a Prelim Applicant.
Make sure you are clearly reading ALL documents sent to you very carefully.

I am a Navy Mom and mom of a 2021 candidate, I am very involved in this process for my son because military/school matters can be very confusing. If you are a Junior or Senior, maybe you can forward emails to a parent to also review, to make sure you do not miss anything. We as parents are here to support you. Good luck

When did your BGO contact you? Did you contact him first? I don't want to email him first because I did that for my USAFA ALO and he never responded lol

Same with my son. His BGO didn't contact him, he emailed, then found out his BGO is not at NPS any longer but in RI now. So we are waiting for a new BGO to be assigned. The original one was very nice in his response though. Hoping the new one is at NPS also. Fingers crossed.

My DS BGO contacted him by email in mid June. He interviewed him on July 4th. That's hard to believe that in less than a year from that interview (and 38 days from now) he will be quite busy being a plebe.
