I was just wondering if anyone knows besides GPA what determines Class rank and how much GPA factors into that, Just trying to set goals for the academy

This would be a good question for your school's guidance counselor or registrar, as it will vary from school to school. At my son's school it is based on GPA and the level of courses you are taking. Example--2 students both have maintained a 4.0 all four years. One has taken all standard classes, the other has been in all Honors classes (or AP of IB, depending on your school) The student in the honors classes will have the higher class ranking. At my son's school, a student who has taken all IB classes can have a lower GPA, but still have a higher rank than a student who has only taken standard classes. (This is called weighting) Hope this helps!

as triplemmom said, thats a good question for your guidance or college counselor; i know some schools (especially private schools, including my own) 'do not rank,' do not weight, do not unweight, etc etc. I had to get my rank for USNA, and I had to get a rank and an unweighted GPA for the NROTC Marine Option applications. My school doesn't broadcast "ranks;" it took a lot of coaxing to get the info, and I'm pretty sure my counselor only gives out ranks to people applying to the academies.
Hope this helps.

no i mean at the academy like GPA and PRT's and what else?

Your CQPR (GPA) determines 70% of your order of merit which is your "rank" while the rest of the stuff, falls into three categories, aptitude (which is your rankings done by your company officer, peers and upperclass), conduct and physical mission. The physical stuff is 30% PRT and 70% whatever PE class you are taking that semester.
