Hi all,

I'm trying to make a class schedule to take with me to registration at the University of Michigan. I've got it how I like it, but that meant scheduling a class at 8 am on PT days. Does anyone have any experience with this working or not (at any school)? I haven't been able to find anywhere that says what time pt is at umich (plenty of other schoold say 6-8), so I just thought I should make sure.

Thanks for all the help,

I sent you a private message. I am not sure if the Navy side of it PTs twice a week or three times a week like the Marine option does. And don't forget you have to fit your Navy classes in there too.

Check the Phys Ed classes at your school. At DS's it's listed as a PE class (Military Conditioning), so at least you can get the times. I imagine times might vary from college to college. I don't recall DS ever taking an 8 AM class but he certainly had classes start at 8:30 or 8:45. You want to leave enough time to shower and get some chow. Also, as someone else said, don't forget to sign up for academic classes and the weekly lab. Also, check to see if your battalion has a web page where you might be able to double check classes and stuff you need to sign up for. They might have some insight provided there. Of course there is always the phone as well!

I caught up with my DS. He says navy PT is 6-7 M-W-F but don't be surprised if they keep you busy on the other days also, at least initially . And they will most likely offer the Navy classes at two different times. Having an 8 AM class may be cutting it close. That is a large campus and you will definitely need to shower and change after. Just means you will have to hustle

I've never had any 8am's last year (freshman year). But I had 9am's and boy were those terrible days. On PT days you will find that you'd probably want to go back to sleep after PT at least for an hour or two.

Personally I am an earlier bird, and have no trouble waking up and going to it. But man, I thought I'd be able to hand PT plus early classes; how wrong I was. Personally I wouldn't schedule earlier than 10am. But everyone's bodies work differently ... and plus I usually only got 4 hours of sleep on a good night, so that probably contributed to it.

Dreading an 8am in the fall; thankfully it's only one day a week at 8am ...

My DS is going to school w/ kinnem son. Ditto... +1 Military Conditioning 0600 - 0650. That is followed up w/ another military class 1.5 hours after. +1 Shower & chow between the two. After looking at his full schedule and the classes he will have to take he like all of you will need to PLAN WELL!!

The upside is your not left to fall on your face only to be sent home, you will have the support, guidance, insight, feedback, and tutors needed to help set you up for success. The tools are there for you; however, it is up to you to grind it out.

Good luck to all.

University of Michigan's NROTC PT is not a "class" on the schedule. PT is MWF from 6-7am (read 5:45-7am). The letter that you should receive soon from the CO highly recommends not having a class prior to 8:30 am.

Do you know if you will live on North or Central Campus? Since PT is on Central Campus, if you live on Central campus and your first class is on Central campus you may be able to do get to an 8am class. DS had an 8:30am class on MW this year. He lived off campus, but near Central and the class was on Central. I think that was still tight though - no time for breakfast.
