What classes do you need to have taken nto be competitve for an appointment to USNA?

Mainly core, AP/honors classes. Obviously, the more the better. But you should have 4 years of math, English, science, plus a second language (at least 2 hopefully 4 years). Aside from that, just rigorous courses are good. Also, math through pre-calc, and chemistry is required.

USNA prefers calc over pre-calc. Chemistry. Physics, if your school offers it. 4 years of English. Solid history courses (American and world). Language at higher levels is a plus but not necessary.

A few courses in music, psychology, art history, etc. aren't fatal. However, as the above poster said, a solid core is important.
