Club Sports

Yes the Combat Shooting Team is relatively new. It was a quite successful team in the late 1990s, but died out. Several class of 09 guys got it restarted about two years ago. Unfortnately, it ran into some administrative problems last year, and was put on hold. It is getting back on line right now.

We do have new carbines.
Making the team is competitive and requires a big time commitment.

How strong of a runner do you need to be to compete in intramural cross country?

If you want to do a club sport, can you just sign up or are there tryouts? The FalconGroundSpeed web site did not list any requirements to join the tri team.

I signed up for intramural XC this semester. There's a really wide range of skill levels. Some at the front ran at state XC meets, so people are in the back having a relaxing jog while talking to a friend.

Tri team you can join somewhat easily, I think. However, competing in events is heavily competed for. If you really want more info, PM me your questions and I can forward them to my friend on the tri team.

There's definitely a wide range of ability levels in all intramurals. Don't worry about the intramurals not fitting in your schedule- they are every other day during your seventh period, so you really don't have a choice. Some squadrons make people try out for specific intramurals, for instance my squad had a really good mens flag football team. But I was in Ultimate Frisbee last semester, and anyone could sign up. Very few clubs have LOS, meaning no intramurals, but you still have time for other clubs. Nordic Ski team practices mostly on the weekends away from USAFA, so nothing interferes.

Swimming?

Are there any intramurals our club teams for competitive swimming? I'd love to keep in shape in the water.

Just a word of advice - swim a lot. Become a very good swimmer, and validate swimming and water haze. Those are very challenging and stressful courses that many struggle with. If they determine that you absolutely suck at swimming, you'll be placed into basic swimming, which is not any easier but twice as long.
