Hi Everyone,

I've been hearing a lot lately that when you're a cadet at the Academy you really want to join clubs and activities that travel a lot. They say getting off base helps you keep your sanity while there. I was wondering...what are some of the clubs that go a lot of different places? I know I'll learn more about all of them when I'm actually at West Point, but was just curious as to what all of you have heard. Thanks!

I would definatley say sports teams that play other schools, and possibly studying abroad in your specified major. Ive hear of people who were to major in engineering, going to Egypt to assist in the construction of a bridge. Correct me if Im worng

Yeah I actually have seen that website before. Thanks for sending it though! It's always pretty fun to look at. The site doesn't say too much about the traveling aspect of the clubs though.
I was just wondering if anyone had more insight into some of the clubs that get to travel a lot, or ones that get to see neat places. I'm asking more out of curiosity than anything. Thanks again!

Speaking of cadet clubs and activities...I get a monthly newsletter via email from the West Point Assoc. of Graduates. They have a page for cadet news which lists all kinds of cadet activities, sports, awards, and events. Here is a link to the most recent one:

If you scroll through you can get a good idea of the different opportunities you will have as a cadet.

In addition to traveling for clubs and sports you will have opportunities to travel through the academic departments as well. For example my son loves history and has already been on a few trips through the history dept. at West Point. He'll be going on another one at the beginning of June called "Germany Attacks." They will spend about 10 days traveling in Germany, France, and Belgium - all expenses paid. :thumb:
