"It is an honor to participate in commemorating the War of 1812 with the United States Navy and other international tall ships," said Capt. Eric C. Jones, the Eagle’s commanding officer. "The Eagle's 2012 schedule provides challenging at-sea opportunities for training future Coast Guard officers, while also building an appreciation for our nation's rich maritime heritage through our participation in Operation Sail 2012 and War of 1812 commemoration events."

Going by past practice, proudmom is correct. Most of the Eagle's schedule is for 3/C but the last three weeks are the Swab phases. Swabs get one week on Eagle....which of the three weeks they get is determined by which company they are in. I'm curious, though, to hear STN '13 elaborate a little about potential changes. Is it safe to assume that swabs will still get the last three weeks but they might switch up the order in which the companies go?

To carry this discussion over to a new thread (Thanks Luigi!), this summer will be a departure from previous years' conventions. The Swabs will be the last weeks, but the company orders will most likely be changing. This change a propagation of changes to cadre section scheduling devised by Cadet Training. Same experience, different timeline.

Navy's War of 1812 celebration..... BIGGEST WASTE OF TAX PAYERS DOLLARS this year.

Pathetic...and that's not even coming from service historians... you should hear what THEY think.

Do you know the exact dates for phase 2?? My 4c just got Va Beach and 2nd phase of Eagle for this summer.

Thanks!

It is best to consult your cadet  They will have their full summer schedule.

lol.. that I know.. we just got a quick text.. she is still in classes... We were just trying to notify the relatives up north as to which ports she would be in....... thanks!!

If things remain the same as in the past, 2016 swabs will get:

Halifax-Newport, RI - phase 1
Newport-Portland, ME - phase 2
Portland-New London CT - phase 3

Hard to say for the 3/c summer cadets- a good guess would be:

Savannah to Baltimore for Phase 1,
Baltimore to Halifax for Phase 2.

However, with this heavy schedule and all these port calls this summer, I would remain as flexible as the little green bendy character that used to be on TV Saturday mornings with his little orange horse.

It will all work out in the end - if it hasn't worked out, it isn't the end. :thumb:

Phase 1 definitely sounds like the better phase for 2015. waay more port calls

NY?

Hi.
Does anyone know where the Eagle will berth in NYC? We are trying to decide where to book a hotel so we will be close to the Eagle when our Coastie comes in. (Our Coastie did not know this information.)
Thanks.
