DS is a reapplicant for class of 2021 and attending a college that is on trimesters with fall, winter and spring terms. I noticed that the spring term does not even begin until the first part of April and runs into June. If a candidate had received acceptance before third term, would attendance for that term be required?

They would be leaving for beast in under 90 days at that point and the third term would not end until the middle of June which is only a couple of weeks before beast. If they completed the spring term, they would likely be at beast before any grades for that term would even be available for USMA to review.

You will be going until school is over. They do not care how long/short your break is.

Many high schools graduate in June; short breaks between the end of the school year and R-Day are not uncommon. Our son had less than three weeks between HS graduation and R-Day. Stunk for us, but it is what it is.

I think it's different for college. You have to finish HS, but you're going to take the college classes again. It's a good question for admissions. Why not ask your RC?

???????

I didn't ask anything about break. I simply asked if a college student who has already completed two terms and has an acceptance from WP would be required to complete a third term that would appear to have no bearing on their admission as the credits do not transfer and the grades would not even be available until after they have reported for beast. They will have already produced grades for two terms of their college year as part of WP application process.

Will do. I was just checking to see if anyone else had encountered this. Thanks for the reply.

Definitely a valid consideration if you have to foot the bill for the 3rd trimester. Could be thousands of dollars in cost savings.

It will not be a condition of your appointment to stay in college for the last trimester.

There are good reasons to stay and finish the entire year, but many reasons to consider leaving including financial
