I have heard that midshipmen may get extended/overnight liberty throughout the upcoming Columbus Day weekend, with Columbus Day being a federal holiday...including the plebes for overnights Fr/Sat/Sun to be back Monday. Fall sporting events/ practices would continue as normally scheduled. Anyone know if this is a realistic possibility? Just wondering if we should plan a visit with our plebe. This seems "too good to be true" when the trimester is ending just two weeks later.

It's really frustrating that we won't know whether the plebes will get overnight leave on Columbus Day weekend (and on Monday) until the last minute. It's impossible to make travel plans. There must be a better way!

For those stuck without a place to go, many homes are open, the plebes just need to check with mids from the Tri-State area. I told my DS the more the merrier any time.

My son called last week and said the Commandant had given everyone including plebes weekend liberty from noon on Saturday until 6:00 PM on Monday. We were able to book cheap flights last Friday after canceling my flight to Annapolis. I agree that it would have been nice to know this a month ago.

Our DS said they will be given liberty Friday afternoon?
