I have heard about command coins but i do not really know what they are or the signifigance behind them. Can anyone shed light on the subject for me and explain the uses of them. Thanks ahead of time.

I've got a growing number of coins...

1. Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates
2. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, ADM Mike Mullen, USN
3. U.S. Army, Chief of Staff, Gen. Peter Schoomaker, USA
4. U.S. European Command, Gen. Craddock, USA
5. Coast Guard Director of Governmental and Public Affairs, RADM Mary Landry, USCG
6. U.S. Northern Command, J-4, Brig. Gen. Michael Dana, USMC

Total...I have 19....but my favorite is my class coin we received just before we crossed the stage to receive our diplomas and commissions.

He's a good guy, I was able to spend some time with him. Good speaker, spoke from the heart, good stuff...

We (DS and I) were fortunate to have dinner with the CNO ADM Roughead a while back, right before he left for his (DS) Naval Academy Summer Seminar, ADM Roughead handed out his CNO coins to 6 of the Cadets there, the cadets were overjoyed to receive them. He also gave DS some last minute advice for NASS.
