I have only taken the SAT and ACT once but hope to see my scores rise with the consecutive tests.

I also live in a very small state with 2 senators and one rep.

Also my expected physical test scores will probably be very strong, expecting Max pullups Max push ups High sit-ups a very strong mile run (cross country) Don't yet know about the shuttle or bb throw

What do you think? It would greatly help to reasure me! Thanks

And Mr. Eagle Scout... Wow, I don't know how hard your district is but after looking at the current class of 2015 statistics, you look in to me. (1000 hours of community service is Amazing (41 2/3 days of nonstop community service) I assume a lot of that is from your church and Scout organizations)) Good Luck

GPA: 4.0 (unweighted, I suppose. I'm not sure what a weighted GPA is.)
Class rank: None, I'm homeschooled. Color me valedictorian.
Will have math through calculus, science through physics, a year of Latin, two years of German, four years college-level piano, and more by graduation (June 2013).

SAT: 780 CR, 690 M, 750 W.
ACT: Composite 32, English 35, Math 33, Reading 33, Science 28.
These are the results for my first attempts at each of these tests. I'll probably retake them in June.

Athletics? Now I see the one downside to homeschooling. Oh well. :D

Extracurricular activities include lots of shooting, my own business (worth all of $5000/year), building a good-sized barn, teaching piano starting this summer, helping out a lot at the local parish, etc........

(USMA '17 wannabe)

P.S.: Does spending literally hundreds and hundreds of hours reading count toward anything? Half my reading is literature from Evelyn Waugh and Solzhenitsyn to Cervantes to Dante to Romans and Greeks, while the other half is military history, mostly (but not limited to) the Second World War.

Max, your SAT scores are amazing, unforchunately Athletics and EC are very important without strong Athletics and EC you will have a very hard time getting in. To get an example, here is the Stats from the class of 2015 good luck :)

If you will notice that out of 1261 admitted
Varsity Athletics .......................................... 1155
Letter Winner ..........................................1093
Team Captain ...........................................777

it looks like the $5000 business could be a huge leadership shower if you were to go more into it. It looks good but you should definitely try to find some sort of sports team to join. (Team Sports are better recieved than individual sports

Regarding Athletics- there's multiple aspects to try to address:

1) Can you physically handle USMA? Most couch potato gamers cannot, historically. Mitigation? Rock the CFA. You have time. Train, and don't stop until you can max most, and get well above average on all. Remove this as a potential negative. People tend to apply formulas and say the CFA is on x% of your WCS, just do good enough. But they are missing it's subjective impact on offsetting fitness concerns from lack of athletics.

2) How do you work in a team / leadership environment? Motivation? Goals, etc? Varsity athletics (according to the service academies) are a proxy for this. Without a check in this box, how do you show them how you perform in this area? Hint: Eagle Scouts, Sr Patrol Leader, NYLT, CAP, significant leadership EC's, community leadership (not service).

3) What else did you do with your time? If you were fully committed running your own business, working to help support your family, etc you'll get some consideration. Just did not bother? That's a red flag.

Camp 300 nights over the last 4 years? List it. Backpack the AT? List it. This won't eliminate the concern, but will help answer the question.

USMA will tell you they need Athletes, Leaders, and Scholars. The majority of candidates demonstrate proficiency in all three areas. Historically, we see them accept some who are significantly above average in two, and slightly below average in one. If the red flags are addressed.

I know cadets accepted with only individual sport at the JV level. But they rocked the CFA, had lot's of outdoor activities, and incredible Academics & leadership. Same for missing leadership, they had Major athletics & Academics, but did not do much leadership other than nominal team captain.

Cadets in both buckets doing extremely well at USMA currently. Both had a harder time getting in. Interviews were a key factor.

But all of this is history. The best thing you can do is start training, and get with your MALO for a frank assessment of strengths & weaknesses.

Here are my stats.
