Computer Accessories

Count me among those thankful for all the perspectives on here. Both real time perspectives from various new Plebes and their parents, to perspectives of long ago graduates......and EVERYTHING in between.

Regarding the mission of the academy, Admiral Worley made it pretty clear to us 2013 parents, that his prime objectives are to "Educate and Graduate" everyone that is willing and able. (willing to follow the rules and able to do what is demanded of them.....)

I guess how he leads all the Midshipmen to those points, will indeed speak for itself. Change usually comes with a few casulties. My experience ( and I realize my experience is not worth spit here) is that the people at the top RARELY got there by being nice and pleasing everyone.

For the record I also have a 2013 PC and was there to hear the rhetoric on I day. Remember the Academy motto- Acta Non Verba, action not words. Guess we'll have to wait and see what action occurs going forward.

So at this point I'll be me and point out we've (self definately included) strayed pretty far from the original topic on "Computer Accessories"...just sayin' ;->

Back to the topic....our Plebe DS tells us the only computer "accessory" he can have are stickers to decorate the outside of the laptop......one way to show a little individuality?

oooo...kayyyy.
Now, I can just SEE some PC returning from the shower, and seeing his computer 'BeJeweled' !
(oh yeah.. stickers only. )

Our computers of choice at home are all Macs. DD was so ticked off at her cranky Dell that she asked us to send her an Apple sticker, which she attached over top of the Dell logo. :shake:

computers to those who had been in quarantine

Does anyone know if the quaranteed PC's who have been released have been issued their computers? When I spoke to my son yesterday he still had not received his. Along with missing the first 3 days of school, it is a setback.

I feel for you. Really. Our guy got out on Monday ...he was in Quarantine 7 days. He got the laptop issued, all his clothes were missing, new room, found part of the clothes, squared the clothes away, started classes Wednesday and ran the 5K ..... (He told me we could look for pics of him in the rear with the 80 year old Alumni) We only got all this because he told us via email. When your PC gets back up and running (no pun intended) you might see an improvement in communication.

I hope you get some feedback of a positive nature soon.

My PC was released today after 8 days in quarantine. Said there was a full house in the waiting room when leaving. Rec'd an email so I know the computer was issued. Seems nothing happens on the W/E so if your PC got out yesterday he should have his computer today.

the only problem I see is that the upperclass mids have been using external harddrives since plebe year. They have a lot of their study materials on them, and what about back up for sea projects? In my son's case he backed it up on the jump drive, the external hard drive, another jump drive AND recorded it to CD...there was no way he was gonna lose the sea project!

still no word

He got out on Friday and as of Monday AM still had no computer. I am still waiting for that email. AARG
