Conditional Appointment

Waiver request forwarded to Superintendent... hopefully there is still enough time for it to be processed should the Superintendent O.K. it. Only 7 more days until the deadline.

We keep checking the forum for updates from you Andrew! Hang in there a little longer -- sending good thoughts your way!:thumb:

Sorry for the sparse message before, I was pretty upset and my capacity to type was compromised .

As I said, my waiver was disapproved, and I'm reasonably disappointed. However, I'm happy to have some sense of closure (unless my AO calls back with some miracle, lol). I'd still like to be involved with the Academy in some capacity, so we'll see how things work out in the future. For now, I'll just continue to do well at UConn and consider some of my other options.

I also plan on hanging around the forums and helping anyone with questions they may have about the application process. I don't agree with the Coast Guard's decision about my medical status, but their decision does not alter the high regard I hold for its service and personnel. As such, I will do everything I can to help others who share my strong attachment to the Academy.

Semper Paratus,

Andrew

Andrew....CGA missed out on a really good guy. I wish you every happiness and much success in wherever your path leads you. I am sure you will do well!

Andrew, the CGA missed out! It's obvious by what you said that you would have made a great cadet! Don't give up on your dreams- if you want the Coast Guard, go and get it! There are a bunch of other ways to becoming a CG officer. I wish you the best of luck and am truly sorry things did not work out for you this year.

Andrew, my heart sank when I read your post. What a loss for the Academy! I thank you for your inspiring and informative posts, and the PM's you have exchanged with my DS giving him advice for reapplying. Wishing you all the best in what, without a doubt, will be a very bright future.

Very sorry to read this. As a young high school student I wanted to be a pilot. I attended 4-years H.S. JROTC and went to a college with an A.F. ROTC program hoping to fly. After two years they flew us all down for flight physicals and was washed out red/green color deficient. Big change of plans: new major, no more Air Force, and dashed dream. But I can tell you I loved the unplanned life I led after my rejection and wouldn't change it for the world. With the wonderful, positive attitude you have displayed, you will do very well in what ever direction you choose next!

Yankees Fan, We're sorry to hear that you were unable to get the waiver. We're sure you will be successful in your Plan B career. Hope you stay with Crew at UConn- maybe we'll see you at the Head of the Charles in the fall. Good luck and God Bless.

Andrew, I was very disappointed to read your thread. Please keep your head up and keep chasing your dreams. I believe you are going to do great things in your future!!!

My Admissions Officer sent my family a nice e-mail today. He's looking into alternative commissioning options for me. :)

Whatever comes out of his search, be it negative or not, it's nice to have someone on your side to look out for you.

Also, my former XC captain at my high school, who is now an officer in the CG after graduating a couple weeks ago from the CGA, has told me to call him tomorrow to talk about my options.
