Hello!

I was recently appointed by USMA (April 8, 2014, received the MOC call on April 3, 2014). I was wondering about the conditions of appointment. Is there a minimum GPA or grades for each class? I'm not that worried, but it would be nice to know. Also, does USMA ever audit appointees? If they do, I'd better start gathering all my stuff together.

Thanks!

Audit?

Not sure what you mean by "audit"? Do you mean will WP send someone out to check that you were truthful on all your application information? Don't think so. Last I heard, you need a 2.0 to graduate WP. The goat is the person with a 1.99999999999XXX that they let graduate.

- graduating high school (getting Cs won't get your appointment pulled, but won't help you when the classes start)
- no criminal charges (no DUI/DWI, getting arrested to disorderly conduct, and etc. Don't be at at a wrong place, wrong crowd, wrong time, etc.)
- no illegal drug use
- no significant change your medical/physical condition (there was a separate discussion of new cadets were required to do pull ups, don't expect to start with a broken arm)

As for "Audit," if you "exaggerated" something too much it could catch up to you as there is no statute of limitation on what a candidate put down on his or her application.

Audit -

Your activities, class rank, GPA, and transcripts (to include your final 8th semester ones) have been certified by your counselor.

Your CFA by your PE teacher - and possibly a pull-up/flex arm hang check on R-Dat

Legal issues - police records check sent in through your police station, and a national criminal background check run off your fingerprints as part of your security clearance investigation, plus the possibility of an investigator checking deeply into your references.

Short of running your three short essays through a plagiarism check, pretty much everything is verified/certified or checked by some outside source. And given that there are multiple reads on your essay AND for many, it's the only real chance to differentiate yourself from your peers, it doesn't make much sense to lift someone else's work.

we know of someone who got appointment to USAFA and lost it because they checked back with the school. don't take anything for granted until you start in processing. this kid was the most gung-ho applicant and now is at Ohio state.

What does that mean, he 'checked back with the school'? Sounds like something went wrong. Its never over till its over I guess!

nobody knows for sure and im sure nobody will. it was between him and afa and something that triggered them to look back. we felt so bad because he was so into the afa - cap, did summer seminar, athlete and had an LOA!!

I would assume he claimed some sort of school honors, varsity letters, captaincy, etc. to exaggerate his accomplishments when they were not really his. One or more of these may have led to the LOA.

Honor, Duty, Country. They build on each other.
