Instructions for Candidate Offered Appointment says SSN ending in 4, 5, 6 will report at 8 am and 7, 8, 9 at 9:30 am. Information for New Cadets and Parents says SSN ending in 4, 5, 6 will report at 7:30 am and 7, 8, 9 at 8:30 am. Which one do I go by?

There are people here who will lose their minds if I tell you the truth, which is that as long as you show up at one of those times you'll be among a group of new cadets and will be in-processed.

But, since I don't want to get into another debate on whether the military is really "black and white" or not, I'll tell you that your best bet is to call admissions to double-check.

After checking with Admissions and knowing the correct time to report, be prepared for long lines of traffic entering the gates. Then waiting for a bus from the parking lot. Then waiting for a long time to get into Ike Hall.

It will be early and you'll be a tad nervous. Make sure you eat something healthy (not heavy) for breakfast. It could be a while before lunch and will likely be hot.

In a letter dated June 7, 2010, over the signature of the Commandant, the report times were:

SSN Ending: REPORT TIME TO HOLLIDER CENTER:
    0, 1, 2 and 3----------0630-0800

    4,5, and 6-------------0800-0930

    7,8 and 9--------------0930-1030

I believe that the letter trumps any conflicting advice regarding reporting time.

I agree with Mom and Scout Pilot, it will be a long wait.

And if it's like last year, you'll be provided with entertainment on line -- there was a juggler who was pretty good -- we got a kick out of the whole thing -- it was like a disney ride -- entertainment on line and a gift shop as you exit....

Why do people from the northeast say "on line"? You're IN a line. There's no line on the ground. :yllol:

"On line" is where this forum is located.

I laughed my head off when I read this...I was reading it at exactly the time that I was having a conversation with someone on the exact same subject.

Well, people on the east coast don't like proper prepositions, either, so who knows :yllol:

FWIW - I live on the East coast (Northeast) and have never said I was standing 'on-line'. I thought it was a southern thing.

I had forgotten about the juggler! Yes! they will have some entertainment. Also the admissions officers will be working the line. If you spot yours, speak up!
I suggest that if you are in the second or third reporting group, you bring some water and light snacks.

Those who travel courtesy of West Point sans parentals - you will inprocess early with the prepsters and won't have to worry about the line.

If your travel plans (flights, trains, etc) are delayed for ANY reason - be sure to have the emergency number with you and call them! They will help you, but they need to know you are indeed coming.
If you are traveling alone and you get delayed - CALL! They will help you get a flight.
Two years ago there were awful t-storms all over the mid-west. A couple of dozen New Cadets were stranded and didn't make it to Newark until R-Day. They were late, but made the parade! This stuff happens, be prepared and know what to do.
