Last Monday my congressman hosted a reception for all of his academy nominees. Prior to handing out the awards he announced that USAFA has accepted his nomination for me. Afterwards he and his staff congratulated me on being accepted. Yet when I told my liaison officer, he told me that an appointment and my congressman's nomination being accepted are two different things. Are they different...?

None of us were there, so it's hard to discern the actual words. It is possible that what they said was that you were a "Qualified" nominee. As opposed to someone that was nominated, but wasn't qualified and therefor was ineligible to receive an appointment.

If you need clarification, I would contact your congressman's office tomorrow. Speak to him or the person on his staff that is in charge of the academy/nomination process. Ask them for clarification if that meant you would be receiving an appointment, or simply are "Qualified" to possibly receive an appointment. Best of luck to you. mike....
