Congratulations and good job to the class of 2016 on your first big hurdle in your young careers! NOW- don't let the 2d semester slump overtake you. FOCUS! Continue to study in the Ac buildings or the Library- get out of barracks- stay off face book and texting and don't squander all of that hard work that you put in up til now. You have a long way to go and many of your classmates will make it a lot more painful than it has to be academically. Good things come to those who work- think of the next year or so as your "academic Rat line" and put in the same amount of energy that you put into sweat parties.

They have posted some breakout pix on the VMI web site : http://www.vmi.edu/Content.aspx?id=10737422033&libID=10737422029

Again- Congratulations to the new class!

good advice...We traveled out to Lexington yesterday to visit with our 'Cadet' and his BRs...they are all sore, with puffy eyes and sound like death warmed over...but they all acknowledge it was a great experience. To quote my son, "It was the hardest, most rewarding day of my life"...one proud Dad here!!

Echoing the BEST WISHES for JOB WELL DONE!
VMIdad - will tell you my cadet too sounded hoarse as well - but said it was great success and was like a proud poppa of his 2 rats!
The snowy-bitter cold weather may be a thing for this dyke line - as my son told me, the General decided at last minute, due to bad weather, the breakout would be just like his RAT year! My son's class had their breakout during one of those historical amounts of snow at january of 2010 - his class even has a snowflake within their design as remembrance.
Bruno's comments are spot on - hopefully the new class will heed the advice -they have the upcoming midwinter formal weekend coming up to enjoy!
Congrats again - larrys mom

My Rat was glad it started snowing somewhat since that is what happened on Breakout day for his Dyke a few years ago.
His Dyke was communicating with us early afternoon (around 2-3pm) to keep us updated on our son's progress with Breakout.
The final sweat party with the Dykes was real intense and caused his Dyke to pretty much lose his voice (from yelling at my son)...i think of it not as yelling but as motivating!
Near the end, his Dyke texted us and said my son made him and his Uncle Dykes proud....
What a school!

Not to hijack this post, but VMI looked VERY sharp at the inauguration parade last month. They made me proud to be a Virginian.
