Do congressional nomination sources have access to your DoDMERB medical qualification status before they issue their nominations? I was under the impression that no one saw your DoDMERB status. Do they ever not give waivers because you have a medical waiver denied even though you are in the process of resolving?

Not quite understanding your last question, but to your first, no they do not.

Are you meaning ‘do MOC’s ever not give a NOM bc a waiver wasn’t approved’? If that’s you question, your medical status shouldn’t be part of your interview. BGO’s aren’t even supposed to ask about medical stuff.

It wasn't part of the interview. I am just wondering if MOC know that you have been denied a waiver even though it is still in process. The DoDMERB says waiver denied even though it is in process. I am just verifying that MOC don't know the DoDMERB status unless you tell them. Sorry if that was confusing.

In the USAFA and West Point portals, offices can see the MED status, but not in the Naval Academy portal. They can't see anything about why your status is what it is or any files related to it.

That is helpful. So they can see your status in the portals, but not the DoDMERB database, correct? If you have a specific circumstance is it acceptable to reach out to your MOC office or will none of that impact the decision to offer you a nomination? I would assume they have seen many medical disqualifications in various portals or even waiver denials in process.

I can’t imagine MOC’s making their slate decisions based upon whether an applicant is already fully qualified, or not. Or any piece thereof (including medical). That’s why they present a full slate. There will be some applicants for their nomination that haven’t even taken their DODMERB exam yet. Or some that maybe haven’t completed their applications. And some that won’t qualify physically or academically.

I think you are overthinking this. If they want to give you a nomination, based upon your application for the nom, they will do so. They have their own, independent application process and that is what they will use to decide who receives their nomination. They aren’t going to nominate based upon their perceptions of the SA’s admission probability.
