I hope someone with more experienced could help and provide feedback and opinion. My son recieved a message from our congressman's office asking to set a time when the congressman could call and speak with him. The call is set for tomorrow morning.

Quesiton: Should we expect good news (notification of appointment) or would the congressman call to share the other news?

Any help, history or guidance would be appreciated!

This journey through the application process has been an experience!!!

It should be a "Congratulations!". I assume he nominated him?

Well...my UN-educated guess would be he will hear good news....as busy as our congressmen are right now (Health Care Reform Bill) I would think he is making special time to speak to your son re- GOOD news!! I hope I am right...if so...CONGRATS!!

I was told by our congressman's office that they would only call with news of an appointment. They don't hand out any bad news they will allow the academy to do that. I know how hard it is to try to read into everything that that comes your way, However I will excited for you when the congressman tell your child he/she has been offer the appointment. Please keep us updated in the morning on your news. Good luck, and less than 24 hours to go.

I think I would just schedule the call and find out what it is!

Ditto our MOC's Staff said they only call to deliver news of an appointment, so in my sons case he as accepted to MAPS and NAPS but did not receive a call because his was not a direct appointment to the SA. In the case of denial what "elected" MOC wants to tell a voter their dream will not happen, at least not this year. Hope this helps and it sounds like congratulations are in order.

Thank you all for your insight, it means more that you can know. Waiting the long 20 to 24 hours will be difficult. I appreciate the support and will post the outcome tomorrow!

    Thanks all. Ben

The letter our DD received when she was nominated indicated that a call would come if they heard of an appointment. We suggested she think through her response and be prepared to express herself in more than a thousand "thank yous"...that call never came. Congrats to you and yours! What fun you will have listening in! Very best wishes.

He called, now I am more confused

At 1100 our congressman called my son. We let him take the call and he was very excited. Afterwards, my son told us that the congressman said "congratulations! you got the nomination", He went on to talk about taking photos in his local office in late May and asked what my son wanted to do upon graduation.

Question: The congressman never said Appointment? I tried to call back, but on Saturday there were no answers at any office. Could it be a mistaken use of nomination instead of appointment???

I guess we wait. Who could I call to confirm on Monday?

    Thanks all,

    Dazed & Confused

My guess is that it was a mistake; it's a little late to be notifying people of nominations, and I've never heard of a congressman calling to do so.

Wow, sounds like the kind of thing that usually happens to me. Have no idea if it's the news I expected or not

Anyway, while I'm not sure how the academy process goes (I'm ROTC) I agree with Roman. It seems pretty late to notify about nominations.

I will take a guess here.....Seeing as nominations were due in January....I would "THINK" it was a misstatement and "appointment" was what was meant. Depending on where you live (time zones) I would call either his office (speak to his staffer) OR the Academy Admissions offcie first thing Monday:thumb:

Didn't your son already have a nomination from this congressman?

    I would say....

Congratulations. Congressman are human and make mistakes (some go to jail for it) but in this case......We'll cut him some slack.

UPDATE, we called the counselor Monday morning and did confirm that my son did in fact get an appointment!! We are very proud of him.

I was in Colorado Springs on business (we live in northern california) and brought back many trinkets from the vistor center.

Now we are no longer "waiting", but now trying to keep up with all that needs to be done.

Thanks again for all of the support!
