Does anyone here have advice about when you should contact your congressmen for nominations to USMA? I will be a junior this year, and I am unsure as to when I should start the process. Thanks!!

Nomination

Push If you go on to your congresspersons website for your area, there should be a place that you can research. It should give you time frames and instruction for the application process. Each congress person has their own method of selection, however, there is usually an essay, about why you want to go to a service academy, they may want a picture of you, they may want a copy of you school grades or transcripts. It’s never to early to work on why you want to attend a service academy essay; it will change as you change.
Appling for a nomination is usually done the fall of your senior year. Other resource will be a West Point representative and your regional commander (RC).
I hope that helps. It’s good that you’re thinking about this early.

Hard, Press Forward

2019, you won't start the actual nomination process until next summer. However, many congressional reps have Academy Days that are open to any year group, so it may be of use to reach out to the staffer who handles nominations now to see if they have anything coming up this fall. Usually you can find their name/contact information under the Constituent Services/Service Academy link on their web page.
