This story just makes me so sad and mad at those who fire up these nuts. ( I know this young man had to be very sick and troubled to take seriously the inflammatory speech of some with radical ideas ). That being said I also know we can't possibly prevent all such events but I wish we could. My ds worked for five months last year in the same office building as Congresswoman Gifford, the US Capitol Building and now he will be attending the same academy as her husband, Captain Mark Kelley. My kid is very interested in politics and just last week talked to a US Senate staffer about doing some upcoming volenteering opportunities locally. I don't even want to think about it, know what I mean?

All: As we members of the USMMA family all rally together in support of a fellow alumni, and for the families of all the victims of this heinous act, I'd respectfully ask that we not turn this thread or forum into a place where the inevitable political related debates be conducted.

Please recognize I do not in any way dispute the fact that debates will and should occur and that we all have a right to voice our opinions. I'm only suggesting that this Forum has, from what I've seen over the past ~30 months been a place where members of the extended "family" of those who are associated with all the Service Academies can find a nurturing environment and unqualified support. At this time there are some of our family who no doubt need and deserve that unqualified support. Regardless of any of our personal politics, I'd suggest the deaths of 6 people and injury of so many others should not be anything, in this forum, but galvanizing in our support of the victims and their families, especially when one of them is such a well liked and respected member of our family.

Yes, you are right Jasperdog. I apologize for starting down that road.
