Before this forum explodes with GREAT news of BFE's received and appointments accepted......just a few words for thought. I couldn't be more proud of my or your DSs and DDs. This whole application process alone has been daunting at times and has taught them that good things come with much sacrifice and determination. The last four years of preparing has produced character and integrity that will last a life time. I salute you one and all and wish you much luck as we close in on the BIG DAY! Go Army! :thumb:

    Sorry

After 27 seconds, I couldn't hold my breath any longer. I felt I was about to pass out after letting go a long "Toot, Toot."

    Rumor...

Only heard it once here, WP was mailing stuff out on the 22nd to be received on the 26th. Again, only heard it once. Just a rumor. We will learn soon enough.

I've been counting down the days since late December (and driving everyone I love nuts in the process), but here's where it really gets hard. This whole waiting period will be a blur when the class of 2017 reports for R-Day on July 1st, but it certainly doesn't feel that way now.

    Agree Martin

However, some will be there, most will not on R-Day.

It's been a long haul for sure!

Boy, you took my thoughts right out of my head today!!!! My DS went through a remedial, got medically qualified, then medically disqualified for something else, and just found out yesterday that the medical waiver was granted!!! It been quite a journey for him and many others. The next 2 weeks will be stressful, but for those who receive that BFE, I'm sure well deserved! Best of luck to everyone! Saying lots of prayers!!!:thumb:

As time goes on, and the waiting comes closer to an end, I would personally say that it's been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life so far. Not many people I know that would ever be able to do something like this.

Good luck to everyone, and regardless of what you find out, you'll be destined for greatness!

In years past, West Point allowed the congressional offices three days from when the admission committee voted to offer an appointment to a candidate so that they could call the candidates and congratulate them. If that is the case, the letter will be mailed out Thursday evening or Friday as I think the admissions committee meets on Tuesdays.

Deep breaths. I got so caught up in the unknown that I forgot to enjoy what was in front of me.

Senior year in highschool is like nothing else. Enjoy that feeling of being "the top dog". I know it's hard just waiting to hear something, and i too stalked the mailbox everyday. I just wish I would have slowed down a little, even after recieving the glorified BFE to smell the roses, and stop worrying so much about the future when the day is slipping by.

Just my thought. Good luck to everyone, I hope all goes well!

    Just For The Parents

In a few short days, there will be triumph for those who are lucky enough to win a BFE. But there will many more who will not. When my DS received his TWE in the mail, it was the darkest days of his young life. I just want the parents to be prepared for that moment. My DS had his pity party, I gave him space, and I too felt sorrow and stained the floor with a tear knowing he alone had to suffer. I watched him break a few things that were dear and knew he would regret that emotional pothole. When he could manage to lift his head again he spent time with me. I would watch the ocean spray come over the bow and clean his sweet face on tug. His beautiful sweet face, with his mother’s eyes slowly came back and again the fire returned inside those eyes. A smile finally broke, like the sun over the morning horizon beginning to warm the day.

I know, so many of these kids work almost their whole lives preparing and waiting as my DS . I had some of the deepest conversation about life goals and setting sail for them with him. If he had not received the prep school opportunity he would have gone on with Plan B and C. But he took a deep breath and would try again. I know if he doesn’t get accepted for Class of 2017 this will be the end of it. I hope he doesn’t seek that dark place again. I feel his growing maturity will push him forward to big adventures again.

Setting new goals and looking forward will help the recovery. As many of you know, your DS/DD are the most exceptional of souls to chase this dream. Its stunning to me how bright their future and the opportunities that await them. Never miss a moment to let them know how important, how beautiful they are and how much you love them.

Before I hit send, I’ll let you know something, I’m a little afraid.

    Thank you, good luck!
