Crickets

We are in California and my son hasn't heard anything yet either. His plan B is San Diego State with an ROTC scholarship. Though still hoping there is a tiny chance he could still get an appointment!

I can think of worse places to be than San Diego!! We will be at university of Georgia if USAFA and rotc at VMI don't work out!
Yes -- San Diego is terrific! UC Davis is on his list too (not as nice as San Diego since it's north and inland near Sacramento) but UC Davis doesn't have ROTC on campus -- have to travel to another campus. UC Davis is the better school though. Oh well.

I contacted my admissions counselor and was told that they are still waiting on my medical waiver before admissions makes a decision. Anybody in a similar situation or have any helpful info on this? Is there a timeline?

PJdaines, my DS is in the same boat. This seems like good news since you are still in the game, and if they are considering you for a medical waiver that could indicate they deem you competitive. As far as I can say from reading all the forums and the DodMERB website, there is no timeline and every situation is different. I have to say though DodMERB has been awesome in response to our concerns and questions. Good luck to you!

Blueblood, did they say when the appointment would show up in your portal?

This is a really dumb question, but I have let my son handle a lot of this stuff himself. He never even scheduled his DODMERB appt!! I assume this will probably disqualify him from even getting an appt. He was under the impression that it could be done later on. But looking at how close it is to June, I don't know why he thought he could wait and do it after an acceptance came in.....

He should of gotten a letter in snail mail about making an appointment. In the letter it gives the names of the places he can go for both physical and eye appointments. At least this is how it worked for my DS. I am pretty sure there was a deadline in the letter but I am not 100% sure. In his portal you would see this...

Thanks for your reply. He did get that letter a long time ago, but put it aside, maybe assuming you do it after you have gotten in. He obviously didn't research it well enough to know that it needed to be started a very long time ago.

DS emailed the MOC today to see if they had heard anything. They have not. She did say if she heard anything that she would let him know ASAP and that she was cheering for DS. I had a feeling that would be the answer. Our MOC is very pro active and would call as soon as he got the news. I am starting to lose hope and staying positive is getting harder. I am venting here because it is hard for others to understand the process of this and I know you all do.

ok Vent off Smile is back on. Thanks for listen/reading!

Va19,
Hey hang in there. Not hearing anything at this point could be a good thing. If you haven't been told no, you are still in the game!!!

DS in same boat w/o a nom...waiting on any word at all. USAFA, Prep, Foundation...anything-all while visiting his last 3 colleges on the plan b list He has a big decision to make this next week so we can put down deposits.

DS had also called his MOC on another SA app, and was told had not heard anything yet as well.

Good luck!!!
