Got my rejection too via email
Sorry to hear your disappointing news. I still remember what my son said when he didn't get in the first time: "Mom, I'm just not ready yet. Next year I'll be ready." Good luck in your first year of college and I hope you apply again. Follow your dream.

Our name starts w S.
Is anyone's back up Embry-Riddle in AZ? My DD would like to connect if so.
She did get notified that she was also accepted into their Space Physics major so now she needs to decide between that or the forensic bio.

Thank you for your kind words and I am hopeful your son will get his appointment that he deserves, he is ready!

Texas A&M is the best in the U.S. for your non-service academy "second choice." If you have ANY questions regarding the Corps of Cadets, which I assume your son will join, please reach out to me. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. I can also put your son in touch with my son who is finishing up his fish year in the Corps in 5 weeks, then on to the Academy. Also, the Aggie Network is extremely strong and supportive. You will have tons of families assisting you. Please give your son a thumbs up and "Gig 'Em" from our family - he'll do great at Texas A&M and he'll be well prepared for his second application to the Academy.
MTNFOX I just sent you a private message.

My DS also got his rejection via email 6:15 pm .
Last name starts with T.
Best of luck to anyone left in the game.

DS got email @ 5:55 pm EST KY, last name begins with "H", no appointment. DS will be an Air Force officer through AFROTC, Auburn University, build up his flight hours and is determined to get accepted into Flight Training program. Good Luck to all your DS's & DD's with the educational path they take; with the parental support I have seen through these posts, they will all succeed..

Sorry Smalltowngirl - DS also received TWE today as a reapplicant. He has been at Embry-Riddle AZ this freshman year and would be willing to connect if you like - just send a PM. I will say we have been very impressed with ERAU and their AFROTC program.

DS got the turndown as well. Was expected w/o nom so he's been prepared for it. Moving on to Plan B. All the best to you all

Email rejection late in the afternoon yesterday. The letter says they do not keep a wait list...how does it work then, if people decline appointment?

robofuzz, tell him we're all proud of him. these kids should all keep their heads very high. They've just competed with some of the best young men and women in the world and the decisions could easily have gone the other way (btw, I'm an A&M grad, another great school)

USAFA expects a certain percentage to decline their appointment. They offer more appointments than there are slots for the incoming class. Hence, what you may have seen on here that someone who declines their appointment did NOT take the place away from someone who wanted it. Unfortunately, every year there are more qualified candidates than there are slots available.
You are all very qualified and I am sure will do well wherever you go. Reapplying is certainly an option, spend the year in school, active in sports, volunteer and leadership opportunities. Consider a self-prep year at one of the military prep schools like northwestern prep, etc.
Over the years there have been those who received a rejection letter but were offered a prep appointment after that or even a very late appointment, but that is extremely rare, so work on your plan B and beyond.

So more or less they keep a "low key wait list?" Plan B is almost all set and I'm just hoping for a godsend with USAFA.

I am so sorry for those who were denied admission :( What hard news to hear. I am ecstatic that it looks like many of y'all will be ROTC cadets though! I will be extremely honored to serve with you all in the future.
And for those of you have decided to pursue alternate paths, best of luck.
For those of you still waiting, best of luck!
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Thank you! He's not real excited, but I think a year in the Corps will do him a world of good and help him mature some. Plus, he's not too far away. I think he wants to reapply to USAFA and I think being in the Corps will really help him in that regard.
