My son just got called to be told his CTLT dates have been changed until after LDAC. He was leaving in 2 weeks.

Has anyone else had changes made? He has until tomorrow to decide if he wishes to still do CTLT. It would bring him back a few days before school starts.

This screws up his moving so it has thrown a big wrench into the works!!

My CTLT has not changed...as of now. The only changes I have heard were for those who were headed to FT Jackson.

I would say take your CTLT slot, my CTLT dates haven't changed yet either. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, even if the dates have been slightly changed. My CTLT date ends 1 day before school starts, thus putting me in a bit of a crunch to get books (they're rental books, so everyone crashes the bookstore). Your son will learn a lot and take everything he has learned in ROTC and apply what he learns at CTLT next year as it will be fresh on his mind. Hope this helps! Good luck with the summer training!

Were either of you going prior to LDAC?

He is trying to make it all work today. His house isn't ready until Aug 1 and he has to be out of his apartment by Aug 3 so we are trying to figure out how to get him packed up and moved prior to leaving for LDAC now. He will be gone until August 14 this way.

No. I have about 12 hours from when I finish LDAC to get to CTLT. This may be why his changed. I'd still take the slot.

Look into holding his stuff in a storage unit while he's gone. A bunch of folks I know go this route because of moving issues.

Good to know I'm not the only one who has had issues. I am doing the CTLT internship program and have had my dates changed multiple times in order to accommodate LDAC. In the end, they decided to have me go to the internship before LDAC and have cut off a week, rather than sending me afterwards. I finally got my orders and travel done last week, and I am leaving on 17JUN! Nobody from my battalion has gone to CTLT prior to LDAC in the three years I have been there; is this common?

May not be common, but it happens.

Just make sure you keep up with your PT while your at CTLT.

My older son's CTLT had some intense training but very little in the way of any PT, he mentioned once that if it had been before LDAC he would have had to find the time to PT on his own to stay in shape for LDAC.

DS did Airborne before LDAC and then CTLT after. Was not home that summer. Jcleppe's advice on PT is very important. All, remember you are representing your batallion at all schools. Have some fun but really work on leave a good impression where ever you go.
