Current Environment for joining AFROTC as Sophomore

They are not going to stop you from joining AFROTC. Even during this downturn they are still giving out scholarships, which is really a recruitment tool.
The thing you need to be is honest with yourself is how competitive will you be in the eyes of the AF. A 2.8 cgpa non-tech major with an 88 PFA is not what they are looking for in future officers.
There are many 250s that get EA slots, while some 200s are not given the slot. If you want to serve, than meet with the CoC now so you can get a realistic look at what they expect from you to be competitive for an EA slot next year.
