CVW

Got the confirmation as well for Jan. 31st. For the parents who are attending, what are your plans in regards to lodging?

I counted 115 as well, so do you think it's safe to say that only somewhere between 400-500 were invited to the spring cvw's?

Assuming that the other CVW weekends have the same # of people invited, I would guesstimate so.

Just booked a room at at Gibson Lodging which backs up to the academey's gate. We can get checked in and walk over. Its a B&B anad has great reviews. Availability is shrinking. So, if interested get a reservation fast. BTW, $99. a night not so bad for a B&B.

I've seen this posted elsewhere in the forum but I couldn't find a definitive answer - and maybe there isn't one! Does being invited to CVW mean anything in particular or "hint" to anything? I don't want to read too far into it and get ahead of myself, but I attended NASS, received a LOA from CGA, and have 2 nominations, so I feel like I am a qualified candidate...

Can anyone shed some light onto what happens at CVW? Any good tips or anything? I'm a female and a sailor so I was hoping to meet with the coaches again and maybe some of the team (I've actually met them before at regattas and at NASS).

Thank you for your time and best wishes for the new year!
Im a Junior and on there facebook admissions link it put out the information to any senior or junior who was interested in taking one, so i just sent them my information, and within 72 hours I was walking into T-Court, and spent 3 days being DRAGGED around by a plebe. I dont know how this is going to affect my candidate application in the fall but i hope it will help.

If an applicant doesn't receive an invitation to CVW does that mean he/she is not as well qualified as other candidates? Does attending NASS mean it is less likely that an applicant will receive an invitation to CVW? I am concerned my DD has not received an invitation to CVW.

I would avoid trying to read too much into the CVW situation as even this far into the process they probably are dealing with about 6500 candidates with noms (based on prior years' profiles). I am certain they are juggling candidates and CVW dates to get as many candidates as possible down to USNA. I can understand the anxiety, but try to give the process a little slack. Also, Admissions/CGO has a very full schedule of Admissions Forums and HUB Training sessions set up for the next two to three months, along with NASS and STEM apps starting to come in. It is a very busy shop right now.

FWIW......when I was applying during my senior year I got a CVW invite. Didn't get into that BFE come spring time though. When I reapplied in college, I didn't get any sort of invite until I asked them about ways to set up a visit in March and they offered to try to get me one.

Same here, same dates for DD. Looks like they ordered the emails alphabetically by last name, if I am interpreting the email addresses correctly. We are trying to find a couple of DD's friends from NASS session 1

What company was she in? I was in Charlie during Session 1 and I'll be at the Jan. 31 CVW :)

If I can't attend CVW for various reasons (college classes, financial, etc), should I send an email to Admissions letting them know this, or is that unnecessary?

You received an invitation. What does common sense and proper etiquette lead you do? Do it. :thumb:

If you don't want to attend USNA at all then I would skip sending them any kind of reply to the CVW invitation.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I'm waiting for an appointment just like everybody else. I just want to let Admissions know that I won't be attending CVW.

and then we heard a weak, faint, far-off grunting and hi-pitched squealing ... ...

I assume this was intended as tongue-in-cheek.

If you're invited to CVW and will not attend, for whatever reason, let USNA know so they can offer your slot to someone else as quickly as possible. As stated many times, CVW is an opportunity, not a requirement, and a declination is fine if that is what you need/want to do.

If you don't respond, I assume that, at some point, USNA would follow up with you to try to get an answer -- not sure on this point. But one should always respond to an invite. If you fail to respond, they're not going to rescind an appointment but it's poor manners and not a great way to start out your relationship with USNA/USN.

Thank you for the advice. I have gone ahead and let Admissions know that I will not be attending.

Yes... tongue in cheek. Should have put a smiley or something... or be less of a tongue in cheek kind of guy.
