I know his has all been discussed before but I have my CVW coming up this month and because I know that some people just finished theirs a couple of week ago I was wondering if they had any suggestions: What to bring/wear and what not to bring/wear, anything they had and didn't feel they needed/anything they didn't have and feel they did need and just anything they feel could be helpful. Thanks everyone.

Bring a pillow! I didn't and regretted it. I didn't use any of the workout clothes I brought but other drags worked out with their mids. Basically just bring everything on the list they give you and you'll be set :) its a lot of fun, enjoy it!

any word on whether or not jeans and sneakers (decent sneakers, not flashy basketball ones) are ok for boys?

I went during the summer so the ACs were on in Bancroft. I got no sleep in the first night because the AC was pointed directly at the spot my cot was on. I froze through the night, and that could've been avoided with an extra pair of heavy clothes, a blanket, and a pillow.

My DD needed a bathing suit at CVW in January because track ended up holding practice in the pool. Pillow and sleeping bag are also helpful as well as snacks for your plebe and roommates. It has not been warm here very much, especially at night, and you will probably walk a lot.
Most importantly this is your chance to ask lots of questions so take advantage of it and prepare a few. Try to talk to the mids at your briefings and the professors after your classes. Don't just observe, participate. If you are a junior, find out what classes will really help you next year, not just what will "look good". If you are taking APs, find out if you can validate some classes plebe year or if you want to take them again. You will be able to tell by the classes you attend.
You have been offered a great opportunity. Good luck and have fun!

I think they give you a list of what to bring when you get closer to your cvw date. For sure bring a pillow and a good sleeping bag though.

USNAco2019hopeful, there was a list of items to bring at the end of the document attached to the CVW confirmation email.

Only thing not on the list that I would recommend is a sleeping bag. You will probably be sleeping on a cot, so it's easier to use a sleeping bag.

If it's anything like my CVW, you will be sleeping on a cot - and not a comfortable one at that. Bring a sleeping bag and pillow. A polo shirt or two. Jeans and sneakers. Also some workout gear; I worked out with my Plebe in the morning. Never used my swimsuit. Bring a positive attitude, many questions, and some snacks for your Plebe(s).

Oh geez my CVW is next month and I plan to purchase my plane ticket during spring break. It's April 24th-26th. And dang I'll be missing 2 Beisbol games during that time so once I come back I'll have 4 miles staring at me dead in the face.

Considering the weather they've had, I'd suggest bringing something warm and waterproof to wear. Check the weather a few days prior to leaving, and pack accordingly.

Also, I'll (mom) be flying with DS to the March CVW. Since our DS/DD need to eat prior to check in, if anyone is interested I thought it might be nice for the kids/adults to get together and get a bite to eat before they need to check in. Hopefully someday they'll all be classmates.

I attended the February CVW and I loved it. Ask questions. I learned a lot. Definitely bring a pillow because the cots were very uncomfortable and also bring a book. Friday is when mids take the pro-know quiz. They study for 2-3 hours and you will be bored while they study. Two big tips: When mids are saluting or in formation, do not copy them. Drags (cvw attendees) are made fun of for copying mids. If you or other readers do JROTC, do not wear your JROTC uniforms to CVW. In January, my host had a drag that did this and everyone in my host's company hated him. CVW is a great experience, so have fun!
