Ha ha. Very happy for them.

Can't imagine the complexity of managing both career paths as junior officers in the Marines. Glad I didn't have to!

Wishing them a life of peace, happiness and love.

Daughter as company commander Headquarters Paris Island. Son in law pilot San Diego. They will figure it out but it might take a year for the transfer. Thank you all. As a former sergeant anyone with butter bars or above is still sir unless I catch myself and just call him John. At the end of the reception party I was still calling all in the wedding party "Sir" forty years younger but old habits die hard and those Marine Dress and Navy Whites do impress.

When our DS got married, anyone that was military in the wedding party wore their mess dress. DSs FIL is retired enlisted. Bullet spent the entire day reminding him that he is not sir, we were family They both laughed about old habits. Later that night, our DS and I laughed, because he said to his FIL can you ask my bride to come here, and without a second thought he responded, yes sir, I will go get her! The look of huh? on my DSs face was priceless that very second, and if that didn't make me crack up enough his FIL took two steps and realized he just called his SIL sir! You just saw him stop and shake his head when he realized it too!

DS quickly after that got up and made a speech. At the end of it he said let's take off the penquin jackets and party!
~ Part of him realized until the jackets were off his FIL was going to say Sir all night long to half of the male guests. Plus, the other half of the male guests on her side would be saying it to the other half on our side.
~~ Our friends were all AF officers and her parents friends were all enlisted. It was a true AF wedding.

Congrats on the happy union with the families. Sorry to derail a little have you ever caught yourself saying Ma'am to you DD? If I do that to my DS when he puts them on he'll never let me live it down!

I would never say "mam" to my DD after all the late night hockey games, practices, field hockey and soccer since six years old. It does give me a moment of pause when others salute her while walking through camp. I can't imagine anyone saluting that little girl now a woman. I did call my son in law Sir one time but it was my only gaff and he was John for now and forever. The rest of the wedding party was all "Sir". As Marine and Navy pilots they deserve the recognition. Never told them that I was "Chair Force". But we still have the best golf courses as good compition.:thumb:

Also I would never call my new Ensign son "Sir" as a newly commissioned Naval Reserve Sealift Command reserve officer now at Newport News for training. Most proud moments were pinning 2nd LT Bars on my DD at Naval Academy and Ensign Boards on my DS aboard USS Constitution for his commissioning. Last one is applying now for all academies. They call me dad and I call them the best thing ever in my life.

DD is Brevet Captain and Son inlaws's mother is a Major in USA Medical. Last statement from Best Man was supposed to be "The only Marine in the room whose wife and mother both outrank him". Never went through with it.
