Dang just got my letter in the mail, USNA unable to offer me an appointment and I was triple Q'd an everything. Oh well, does any one know if there is any chance I could still an appointment? Say if people drop out, do I take their spot?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, your best bet is to re-apply next year for the class of 2014. Well not really next year, the applications for 2014 will be open fairly soon. Only if you are on the "waiting list" do you have a chance of an appt. this year. So concentrate on next year. There will be people put on a waiting list.
    Good luck!

This is correct, I think if they send you the thin envelope and it begins with "Thank you in your interest," then it could be done. If you're on the waiting list, I believe they send a letter stating so.

As for your situation, reapply next year, take courses equivalent to plebe's, and excel at them. Best of luck!

Sometimes I guess the odds just aren't in your favor. Only thing left to do is walk it off and try harder next time around

    Can you call admissions again?

hi Spasik, can you call admissions and ask what would improve your package for next year? This may help your case and I have heard of candidates being appointed late in the year. My prayers are with you.

    Hey Spasik,
Ditto NavyMOM 2008's comments. Do some research, see what you can improve on and reapply......because you were 3Q'd; absolutely see if admissions can give you direction. I sent you a pm. Blessings to you.

Hey, I never got a nomination for '13. Will they send me a letter saying that i have no chance at appointment or do they just assume you know you aren't in?

I'm pretty sure a nomination is required to get an appointment.

You absolutely need a nom for an appt, but if you applied for the VEEP you could still be in the running...don't put alot of weight into it since only 5 at ea SA will be charged to the VEEP

All candidates will receive correspondence from the academy - even if they didn't secure a nomination.

    "will recieve correspondence"

When you say "will recieve correspondence", what do you mean by that and when will that arrive?

So, if MOC's noms have been charged and my s didn't get it, what does that leave for his prospect of an apointtment other than VEEP?:eek3:

Not sure what you mean by "MOCs noms have been charged." If you mean that your son has a nomination, but someone else from your district has already received an appointment, all is not lost. Anyone who has a nomination (but was not actually "charged" to their MOC) competes in a national pool, ranked by "whole person score." If your son's score is high enough, he might get one of those remaining spots. This assumes he is also scholastically and medically qualified (3Q).
If, however, you mean that your MOCs gave out their 10 nominations (each), and your son did not get one, it's a lot less likely for things to come out the way you would like. As mentioned in a previous post, there are only 5 veep nominations for the whole country.

    Good luck to your son.

Yes, that is the situation. He is competing with the national pool, as you say.
So is the board making offers of appointment for these folks yet? or will it all come out of the board at once come April 15th?
