is the 2% club real? like is it true that only 2% of people who enter with an SO are able to keep them all four years?

Roughly. For my class it was about 2.5%

They do a section in your graduation yearbook of each couple who made the club.

wow. is it 2% of the entire class or 2% of the people who enter with an SO?

The latter. It's hard to finish WP with the same SO you started with if you didn't actually start with one.

hahah no I get that... but how do they know how many enter with one? I asked the earlier question because it would be difficult to come up with a percentage remaining without knowing the original number.

It's inexact. In my day, they did a survey. Pretty easy, what with the honor code and all.

I know this forum is a little under a year old but I have a few questions:

How many firsties end up with girlfriends/boyfriends after their 4 years?

How common is it for a cadet to date long distance? I met one plebe that is but I'm curious to know a rough estimate.

Of those cadets with local girlfriends/boyfriends, are they mainly from Mount Saint Mattress or New Yorks schools (ie NYU, Columbia...etc)?

42!

But seriously:

Q1- More than you would think, but way less than most male cadets desire

Q2- 2% (see multiple references to the 2% club)

Q3- In DS's extended circle of friends there is much more cadating and dates from back home. And much "almost" cadating: "not officially a date, but lets hang out together and got to hops, etc".

Virtually no local dating. But that dynamic may change cow year when they get wheels. But even with cows & firsties you don't hear much about dating locally outside USMA or back home.

I'm sure the occasional plebe/yearling meets NYC girls on leave. But you really don't hear much about lasting relationships. (But you really need to hear from current cadets...)

1. A pretty decent amount, but no exact figure.

2. It's extremely common for plebes, then one by one it slowly starts to dwindle. The whole "Dear John" letter is apparantly an actual thing.

3. So this I can speak from experience. I met my current girlfriend in NYC and she goes to FIT. Most cadets with local girlfriends are definitely New York schools. As a plebe, whenever you can take pass, (the whole 3 times a semester) you usually go to NYC becuase it's close, easy to get to, exotic, and at least one person in your group will have a friend at NYU, Columbia, FIT, Kings College, Fordham, the list goes on and on. Cadets usually do not have a reason to stop by local schools (MSMU, Vassar, ect.)
