I haven’t found much information about this category since it is a significantly smaller percentage of applicants, but if anyone has any information I would like to know how many of these applicants with this nomination generally get in. Also, how competitive is this nom to other nom sources as in regard to applicant stats?

I have the disab nomination as well as a congressional and senatorial. Haven’t heard anything from the academy yet. As far as I know, USAFA gets 65 across the cadet wing in general, meaning that they get an average of 16.25 acceptances charged to that nomination each year.

Are they limited to 65? Also if you got a congressional nom then would they use that and give the disab nom slot to someone else that got it?

Sixty five total slots but nominations are unlimited - they could give hundreds of them out and if he candidates with only that nom have high enough Whole Candidate Scores, then USAFA could bring them in under that category OR as an Additional Appointee.
If you have that nom and an MOC nom, it is USAFA's choice as to where to "charge" you.

Thanks for explaining that. What if the disab nom Is all you got, as you got a packet that is comparatively competitive compared to other students that have gotten appointments, is it safe to assume you got a good shot, of are you competing against those that also got a disab nom only, and how competitive are they? Also wdym additional appointee?

If you add together all of the "Slots" for the various nomination categories, the total is less than the number authorized to be in the class. Also, if one of the categories does not use all of their "Slots" then there is further "empty space" Additional Appointees are the candidates who fill that space and to get those a candidate needs to get A nomination from somewhere. Some districts (like mine) almost always have multiple folks admitted and that is how.
With regard to how competitive your "packet" might be, you do not know. It is a lot more than how many APs, your SAT/ACT and your GPA. I will not venture a guess about how competitive you might be because the real answer is in your Whole Candidate Score and those competing with you.

I understand that there are so many factors that are in play and it’s really hard to say, but do you have any idea if it’s easier to get in with a disab nom than a moc or senator nom? Like I’m basically saying will the academy give appointments if you receive a disab nom and you have a solid packet that generally is in the range of other admitted applicants. It’s just confusing sometimes with who they accept and reject and I have met people that were much more qualified in terms of their entire packet that have received rejections than a person that seems less qualified who gets accepted through a different nom or class year. Like I get they don’t just pick 1-1200 and build a class but have seen people been struck down because of that yk?

Here’s the usna class portrait for 2027
131 nominations for children of decreased/disabled veterans
Seems likely that something like this exists for USAFA and USMA.
At the end of the day, it is impossible to predict the exact appointment criteria.
