Decision notification

Hello all, seeing that we are now in the middle of the long waiting game I was wondering if admissions notifies you of an offer of appointment as soon as they decide? Or do they hold off and wait for strategic times, such as closer to March?

I'm assuming that they're mostly just qualifying candidates at the moment, and then waiting until all nomination slates are in so they can strategically slot people they want.
