Demographics consideration for application

    I was just wondering if the USCGA uses demographics or race as a consideration in selecting applicants. I noticed on their website that they are aiming to be more culturally diverse and was curious it that factors into their decision making process.

    Up until 2 years ago it was against the law for USCGA (the only one specifically prohibited from doing this by US Code) to consider race or sex or religion as part of the selection process.

    That law was changed, and now the Admissions department uses many factors to shape the class makeup, including using race & sex & religion to meet diversity goals.

    It disgusts me. Merit has no place in a meritocracy anymore....

    At least they haven't crammed the Congressional nomination down our throats yet...

    I honestly can't understand it either. The whole point of having a merit based system is to HAVE A MERIT BASED SYSTEM.


    Also LITS, I have to say, when you change your picture, it confuses me.
