So I'm headed off to devil Pups this summer with a few cadets from my military Post.

I was wondering if anyone else has gone through the program and gone to an academy, or is applying now.

If there is, I am curious to know if you have used it in your essays, applications ,recommendation letters, etc.

Was it effective to include the program and your experience to your paperwork?

Hello pchoi619,

Wow when I saw that thread title, I got really excited! Yes, I attended Devil Pups in July 2007, and that program is the reason why I want to go into the Marine Corps, and the reason why I will be attending the Naval Academy Prep School and eventually USNA.

I am a senior in highschool, and I have used it on all of my college applications, resumes, and other things as well. During my congressional interview, the board had known about the program and they were very impressed. The one issue though is that it is not a national program and is limited to I believe California, Arizona, and Nevada so I don't think there is as much recognition as say Boy Scouts or Sea Cadets.

But regards to its effectiveness in applications- absolutely. Especially if you can explain what the program is.

For those who are not familiar with Devil Pups, it is a 10 day leadership program at MCB Camp Pendleton. While there I had the opportunity to "hang out" with Force Recon for a day, jump off a 35ft tower, get yelled at by the DI's, tour and see the different LAV's, weapons, and such. It's kind of of a glimpse of life in the USMC, except not as intense.
