I received mail yesterday encouraging me to apply to the Academy. It said "Your exceptional High School record has been noticed by our admissions team. and throughout the letter they said the word encouraged quite a few times. Was this a BS letter they send to everyone or am I special.

If it invited you to visit West Point, it's an LOE.

it didn't say anything about a visit but it invited me to apply and said i would be a competitive candidate.

Don't fret, it's good news! They like you so far. But, it's unfortunately not an LOE.

LOE's are rare an LOA's even more. Don't fret getting an LOE or not just so your best and seek any area you can improve in.
